Bet on Virginia Tech Because…
Virginia Tech’s defense has turned into one of the best units in the nation. The Hokies were unbelievable defensively in their last game when holding North Carolina to only 3 points. The Tar Heels have one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation. VA Tech allowed the Tar Heels to amass a total of 131 yards. North Carolina rushed for a paltry 2.5 yards per carry.
“To me, we know they’re going to put the ball in the air and operate at an incredible pace. … They like to run the ball, too,” Hokies first-year coach Justin Fuente said.
Bet on Syracuse Because…
There are some strong trends for Syracuse going into this game. The Orange is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games versus a team with a winning road record. The Orange is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games. Syracuse is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after throwing for less than 170 passing yards in their previous game.
“Every down is a threat. They like to pass the ball, a very wide-open team,” Facyson said of Syracuse. “We just need to execute.”
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
At first, I thought that Syracuse had a good shot in this game. After studying the stats for a while, I don’t see how Syracuse has any shot of keeping it close. Virginia Tech’s defense has been ultra-impressive in 3 straight games.
It cannot be overstated how difficult it is to hold a team like North Carolina to only 3 points. Syracuse’s offense isn’t as close to being effective as NC’s. The Virginia Tech offense averages 412 total yards and over 39 points per game.
Although Syracuse will have some fans that take the points, I think this is a no-brainer. While one teams should score at will, the other team is going to have problems getting to 10 points. I think VA Tech routs the Orange on Oct. 15.
