The Pac 12 continues its awesome schedule of games this Thursday when Washington travels to USC to take on the Trojans. The Huskies haven’t turned the program around as quickly some would have liked after hiring former Boise State coach Chris Petersen.
A win versus the Trojans would definitely help Petersen gain more confidence from the fans at Washington. For USC, dreams of a possible trip to the College Football Playoff still aren’t out of their reach. USC can’t stumble by losing to a team like Washington, though. Will it be Washington or USC high-fiving on the gridiron after this key game in the Pac 12 on Thursday?

Why Bet On Washington Beat USC (-17)
The Huskies are allowing a conference-low 4.3 yards per play and have surrendered an average of just under 9 explosive plays per game
The USC offense is very talented. Led by QB Cody Kessler, USC averages 532 total yards per game. The offense is very good. Kessler rarely makes a mistake. He’s only thrown 1 interception this season.
But, USC hasn’t faced a team with as good of a defense as what Washington’s got. The Huskies are 3 and 1 against the spread this season. In their last game, Washington’s defense was as brilliant as it has been all season even though the Huskies’ lost straight up 24 to 30 as a +1 point home dog to California. The Golden Bears average 43.4 points and 527.8 yards per game.
Washington held the Bears to 481 total yards and only 30 points. What was really impressive is that California gained only 2.7 yards per game on the ground. If the defense is able to play as well against USC’s high-powered offense as it did versus California’s high-powered offense, the Bears should be able to keep this one close.
Why Bet On USC (-17) to Beat Washington
Ex-Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian needs a win on Thursday against his former team to keep USC a Pac-12 contender
After losing to Stanford in a 31 to 41 high-scoring affair as a -9.5 point home favorite, many could forgive USC fans for giving up on the season. But, that’s not what either the fans or the football team decided to do.
A week later, USC went to Tempe to face the Arizona State Sun Devils and responded like a championship caliber team. The Trojans destroyed ASU on the road 42 to 14 as a -4 point favorite. To tell you how good ASU is, the Sun Devils bounced back and beat UCLA on the road 38 to 23 after the loss to the Trojans.
It’s hard to imagine USC not continuing to move forward after thumping the Sun Devils so badly in their last game. The Trojans know that their only shot at getting back into the College Football Playoff discussion is to continue to win big in the Pac 12 Conference. But Washington has a very good defense. This one will be close. My final score prediction is USC 31, Washington 20.
