College Football Week 2 Over/Under Picks
New Mexico at #7 Wisconsin
When: Saturday, Sep 8 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Camp-Randall Stadium, Madison, WI
Game Total: 55
Analysis: Wisconsin, a 35-point against the spread favorite, should score over 30 in this game. The Badgers scored 34 in their win against Western Kentucky in Week 1. Wisconsin’s defense, with new players at almost every position, shut down a historically good Western Kentucky offense.
The total in the Badgers’ Week 2 game assumes that New Mexico keeps up with them on the scoreboard. Although there’s a possibility that could happen, it probably won’t.
New Mexico scored 60 points versus Incarnate World in Week 1. Wisconsin’s defense is in a different solar system compared to Incarnate World’s. The Badgers should put the kibosh on New Mexico’s offense.
Unless Wisconsin decides to speed up their offense, something they probably won’t do, this game should go under by 10 to 15 points.
Pick: Under 55
#10 Penn State at Pittsburgh
When: Saturday, Sep. 8 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
Stream: Watch ESPN
Game Total: 56 ½
Analysis: Penn State fans shouldn’t worry that their team beat Appalachian State in overtime. The Nittany Lions might have looked past App State. App State also has one of the top non-Big 5 Conference football programs in the nation.
Penn State should play much better on defense against Pittsburgh than they did versus App State. The Nittany Lions beat Pitt 33-14 last season. Pitt only scored 33 points against Albany in a 33-7 win.
Here’ another game in Week 2 where the under looks solid.
Pick: Under 56 ½
#12 Michigan State at Arizona State
When: Saturday, Sep. 8 at 10:45 pm ET
Where: Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, AZ
Stream: Watch ESPN
Game Total: 55 ½
Analysis: Arizona State scored 49 points in their win and cover against Texas-San Antonio in Week 1. The Sun Devils must know face a Michigan State team that yielded 31 points in a 38-31 win over Utah State.
Although the Spartans allowed Utah State to score 31 points, they held the Aggies to a 1 yard per carry average. ASU rushed for 266 yards in the win over the Roadrunners. The Sun Devils won’t get close to rushing for that many yards against Michigan State’s defense.
This game should go under.
Pick: Under 55 ½
