College Football Week 3 Expert Picks

Oklahoma at Iowa State
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, IA
TV: ABC
Stream: Watch ESPN
Odds: Oklahoma -19

Analysis: Oklahoma’s offense has been unstoppable in 2 games. The Sooners scored 63 in a 63-14 win over Florida Atlantic in Week 1. In Week 2, Oklahoma scored 49 points in a 49-21 win over UCLA.

Iowa State’s defense is decent. Plus, the Cyclones did beat Oklahoma 38-31 last season. But, Iowa State’s offense isn’t nearly as good this season as it was last season. The Sooners should rock the Cyclones and win by at least 21 points.

Pick: Oklahoma

Vanderbilt at Notre Dame
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 2:30 pm ET
Where: Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN
TV: NBC
Stream: NBC Sports Live
Odds: Notre Dame -11

Analysis: So far this season, Notre Dame’s relied on its defense. The Irish’s top win happened in Week 1 when they beat Michigan 24-17.

By relying on their defense, Notre Dame should have no trouble taking down Vanderbilt. The Commodores average 35 points per, but Vanderbilt’s battled bad teams while Notre Dame is one of the top teams in the nation.

Notre Dame should have limited trouble moving the ball against a Vandy defense flattered by offenses like Middle Tennessee States’. Defensively, Vanderbilt’s rarely faced a unit as talented as Notre Dame’s.

Pick: Notre Dame

BYU at Wisconsin
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI
TV: ABC
Stream: Watch ESPN
Odds: Wisconsin -21.5

Analysis: BYU’s 28-23 Week 1 win over Arizona turned out to be a mirage. The Cougars dropped their second game this season 18-21 to Cal. BYU now heads to Camp Randall Stadium to face a Top 10 team in Wisconsin.

The Badgers allow 8.5 points on defense. On offense, Wisconsin averages 39.5 points. Unless BYU finds a way to keep pace with Wisconsin’s terrific offense, they should lose by at least 34 points.

Pick: Wisconsin
