Week 6 College Football Upset Picks

Can Boston College keep it close versus Clemson after the Tigers’ huge win over Louisville in Week 5? Is Arkansas capable of sticking with 1 Alabama? How will Stanford respond to Washington State after the Cardinal lost a big game to Washington in their last?  Keep reading for my top College Football Week 6 Upset Picks!

#3 Clemson at Boston College
When:  Friday Oct. 7 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA
Odds: Boston College +16.5

Analysis: Clemson has gone 3-0 straight up in their last 3 games. No win was as sweet as beating Louisville as a +1 home dog in Week 5. In that game, Clemson took down the Cardinals 42 to 36. It was an emotionally charged, important game for the Tigers. It was, perhaps, the biggest win of the season for Clemson.

The Tigers are due for a letdown against Boston College this Saturday. Clemson should definitely win, but beating a solid team like Boston College, who has won 3 out of their last 4 and 2 in a row, by 17 points is asking a lot. The Eagles allow an average of 17.2 points per game.

I am betting that BC covers the spread.

Pick: Boston College +16.5

#1 Alabama at #16 Arkansas
When:  Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, AR
Odds: Arkansas +13

Analysis: Arkansas played Alabama tough last season in Tuscaloosa. The Razorbacks lost 27 to 14 as a +15 road dog. They covered the spread in that game. I think they have a great shot of covering the spread in this game on Oct. 8.

Alabama’s defense continues to amaze. But the Crimson Tide D gave up 43 points to Ole Miss in their first road game of the year. This is only Alabama’s second road game of the season. How will they handle it?  They should win, but giving up 13 points to Arkansas, a Top 15 ranked team, at home is too much.

Bet on Arkansas keeping it close.

Pick: Arkansas +13

Washington State at #15 Stanford
When:  Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Stanford Stadium, Stanford, CA
Odds: Washington State +11

Analysis: Stanford is a much better team than what they showed against Washington in Week 5. The Cardinal got smashed by a Huskies’ squad that might be the best overall football team in the nation right now.

But although Stanford will play better at home versus Washington State on Oct. 8, I like the Cougars to cover the spread. Giving a team like Washington State, who has won 2 in a row including destroying Oregon 51 to 33 in Week 5, is giving a gift to any handicapper who saw the Cougars almost pull off the upset over Boise State on the road a few games ago.
Washington State has covered 3 in a row. I think they make it 4 in a row ATS this Saturday.

Pick: Washington State +11
