Week 7 College Football Lock Picks

Alabama at Tennessee
When:  Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN
Odds: Tennessee +10.5

Analysis: Alabama rolls into Tennessee as the undisputed top ranked team in the nation. The Crimson Tide has had only one difficult game this season, a 48 to 43 win over Ole Miss on the road. Even in that game, it never really looked like Alabama was in trouble.

Tennessee finally gave a lead to a team and lost the game. The Vols almost came back against Texas A&M falling 38 to 45 in overtime after giving A&M, like they’ve done against most opponents this season, a big lead.

In this game, I think that Tennessee plays well from the beginning. This is one of the more understated rivalries in the SEC. Tennessee cannot stand Alabama. The Volunteers have a stadium that seats 100,000 people. All of those people will be wearing orange.

You can can’t on Tennessee coming out strong from the beginning in this one. I think they do enough to keep it well within the 10.5 spread.

Pick: Tennessee +10.5

Southern Miss at LSU
When: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA
TV: SEC Network
Odds: LSU -24

Analysis: Since interim coach Ed Orgeron has taken over for Les Miles in Baton Rouge, the LSU Tigers have shown a different attitude. That was apparent in LSU’s 42 to 7 dismantling of Missouri before going on a bye this past week.

LSU’s offense should have no trouble scoring close to 50 against a Southern Miss team that allowed Rice to score 28 and Troy to beat them 37 to 31. LSU also has a much stronger defense than anything Southern Miss has faced so far this season.

24 points is a lot. But this LSU team is fired up to make something out what has been a disappointing season. I think they roll big time in the bayou on Saturday.

Pick: LSU -24

Ohio State at Wisconsin
When:  Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI
Odds: Wisconsin +10.5

Analysis: Ohio State’s defense hasn’t yielded a touchdown in the fourth quarter of any game this season. But, let’s be honest. Wisconsin’s defense is probably slightly better than Ohio State’s. The Buckeyes have gotten to beat up on overrated teams like Oklahoma while Wisconsin has already had to play Michigan State and Michigan.

The Badgers probably should have beaten Michigan in Ann Arbor. Now, they get a chance to knock off Ohio State in their stadium in Madison. I think the Badgers come up big in this game. They have a shot to beat Ohio State straight up with their defense playing as well as it has.

No doubt the Badgers cover the ridiculous spread.

Pick: Wisconsin +10.5
