Upset Picks College Football Week 13

Week 9 College Football Lock Picks

Everyone is still talking about how Penn State upset Ohio State this past week, but I am already focused on my Week 9 college football lock picks. I believe there are three such bets that you can cash in on. Happy hunting!

Week 9 College Football Lock Picks

Can Louisville dominate Virginia as a 4 TD road favorite? Will Penn State suffer a letdown after a huge win against Ohio State when they take on Purdue this Saturday?  What will happen when Michigan State hosts rival Michigan on Oct. 29?

#5 Louisville at Virginia
When:  Saturday, Oct. 29 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Scotts Stadium, Charlottesville, VA
TV: ABC/ESPN 2
Odds: Louisville -28

Analysis: Since beating Duke 34 to 20 on Oct. 1, Virginia hasn’t played all that well. On Oct. 15, Virginia lost 31 to 45 to Pittsburgh as a +3.5 home dog. Then, in their last game, Virginia lost 14 to 35 to North Carolina as a +10.5 home dog.

Home field advantage means nothing to Virginia. On Saturday, they face one of the top teams in the nation in the Louisville Cardinals. The Cardinals destroyed a decent North Carolina State team 54 to 13 in their last game. QB Lamar Jackson remains unstoppable. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the ground while throwing for 18 more TDs.

Unless something happens to Jackson early on in this game, Louisville should win by over 30 points.

Week 9 College Football Lock Pick: Louisville

#2 Michigan at Michigan State
When: Saturday, Oct. 29 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI
TV: ESPN
Odds: Michigan -22

Analysis: Michigan State is a mess. The Spartans, who played in the 4-team College Football Playoff in 2015, have lost 5 games in a row after opening the season with 2 wins. Sure, there’s supposed to be a lot of emotion in this game when the Spartans host the rival Michigan Wolverines.

But emotion will only get you so far. Losing to Wisconsin can be forgiven. Even losing to BYU can be understood. But what about Sparty’s losses to Indiana, Northwestern and Maryland? Michigan hasn’t forgotten the blocked field goal in last year’s game that led to a Michigan State win. The Wolverines won’t let up. They have a chance to beat Michigan State by 40 points or more. I expect the Wolverines to make the most of their chance.

Week 9 College Football Lock Pick: Michigan

#24 Penn State at Purdue
When:  Saturday, Oct. 22 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, IN
TV: ABC/ESPN 2
Odds: Penn State -14

Analysis: How does Ohio State lose a 14-point lead to Penn State? That was a game where emotion meant something. The Nittany Lions came storming back to punch Ohio State in the mouth in the 4th quarter. What was most impressive about Penn State’s win was how they dominated Ohio State’s very good offensive line.

Purdue’s offensive line should have no shot in this game. The one thing that worries me is that Penn State might have a letdown after the big win over the Buckeyes. But even a big letdown should lead to a Penn State win of 14 points or more over the overmatched Boilermakers in this game.

Penn State rolls and climbs down the rankings.
