Bet on West Virginia (-4.5) Because…

West Virginia’s defense is the best in the Big 12. The Mountaineers have been winning because the Mountaineers are built to stop opponents, not just to outscore them. Kansas State scored only 16 against West Virginia. Texas Tech scored only 15. The Red Raiders average over 50 points per game. TCU, in one of the most impressive wins by any team this season, only scored 10 points against the Mountaineers in a 34 to 10 West Virginia win.

“You’re only as good as your next game,” WVU coach Dana Holgorsen said. “Our team understands that. They’re not worried about rankings or preseason; they’re only worried about where they’re going to be at the end.”

Bet on Oklahoma State (+4.5) Because…

Oklahoma State has been on a roll since starting out with a 2 and 2 record. The Cowboys have won 3 games in a row. They beat Texas 49 to 31 on Oct. 1. They took down Iowa State 38 to 31 on Oct. 8. On Oct. 22, Oklahoma State beat Kansas 44 to 20. The Cowboys have been hot this month. There’s no reason to believe that they don’t stay hot going into Saturday’s game versus West Virginia.

“They’re playing as good as anyone in the conference and maybe comparable to top 10 teams in the country,” Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said of WVU’s defense. “They’re multiple with the style of play they use. They tackle well and they play aggressive.”

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Actually, there is a reason to believe that Oklahoma State won’t stay hot against West Virginia this Saturday. The first reason has to do with the Cowboys’ schedule up to this point.

Oklahoma State did beat Pittsburgh. But outside of the win over Pittsburgh, the record isn’t all that special. Beating Texas, Iowa State and Kansas is something Oklahoma State is supposed to do. Losing to Baylor and Central Michigan are games that many felt the Cowboys should have won.

Not only did West Virginia beat BYU in BYU but they held the number one ranked offense in college football, Texas Tech’s to 17 points and only 379 total yards. There’s no reason to believe that West Virginia won’t contain Oklahoma State’s offense the way that it’s contained everybody else’s offense.

I am betting on West Virginia to cover the spread in this matchup.

My final score prediction is West Virginia 42, Oklahoma State 20.
