Who will bring the better running game on this night?TheDuck
This is the early afternoon game that I have been waiting to see, both of these programs are hard hitting, defensively oriented and best of all, power running games with abilities that leave fans with their mouths open wondering if they indeed just saw what they think they saw. The Tigers travel to Tennessee with only one goal in mind, to destroy the Volunteers and remain second in the SEC behind Alabama. There are always the big possibilities of an upset in games like these because of the type of run game each of them bring to the table.
Auburn is veteran team that knows and understands that to win in their day and age you have to have the entire package, you must have the defense, run game as well as the passing attack, something that even though they might not use often, they are actually very good, completing 63.8% of their passes. The Tigers will come into this game to establish the run, move it from side to side and then start playing the read option over the middle to a dragging receiver.
Tennessee knows that it will be the underdog at home and they are fine with that, Auburn has set the bar high but the way they have been playing, it shouldn´t bother the Volunteers too much. They are coming off a bad game against Missouri and will be looking to make things right, with a few blown coverage’s and some dumb penalties down the stretch of the game. Look for a much calmer defense and an offense that will run designed set plays to keep the ball moving.
What to Expect:
Auburn is one a touchdown favorite in this game because of the Volunteers ability at home to make things complicated for ranked opponents. I see this being a very close game till sometime late in the third quarter with the team that makes the defensive stop. I like Tennessee to actually cover in this one at home, not win it, but cover the seven for sure.
