Why Bet On Wisconsin To Beat Alabama (-10.5)
Rusher Corey Clement no longer has to split carries with Melvin Gordon.
Even though Wisconsin has a new coach in Paul Chryst, the rushing attack that the program leans on won’t change much. Chryst used to be Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator. He developed the system that Wisconsin runs. The Badgers are a run first team. They have been for a number of years.
This is especially true because QB Joel Stave only completed 53.4% of his passes last season. The Badgers have to run to win games. Stave threw 10 interceptions and only 9 touchdowns in 2014. He could be worse in 2015 unless the offensive line steps it up and opens up holes for running back Corey Clement.

Clement rushed for 949 yards and 9 touchdowns last season. Those are great numbers considering that Melvin Gordon, who is with the Chargers in the NFL now, got the bulk of the carries. Clement has the talent, but will the offensive line be able to help him utilize his talent?
One of the problems that Wisconsin is going to have facing Alabama in Week 1 is that the Crimson Tide might have the very best defensive line, or front 7 for that matter, in all of football. Alabama’s D-Line is fantastic. The linebackers led by Reggie Ragaland are hard hitters. If Wisconsin can’t run the ball with Clement and have to go to the pass, things could get ugly in this matchup.
Why Bet On Alabama (-10.5) To Beat Wisconsin
Is Alabama over their early college football playoff exit last season?
One of the issues with Alabama’s offense last season is that because they had soon to be NFL superstar wide receiver Amari Cooper, they tended to throw way more than they needed to. Alabama has traditionally been a running team. Both Mark Ingram, who plays for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL, and Eddie Lacey, who plays for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL, excelled rushing the football for the Tide.

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin went away from rushing the football last season. That’s a shame because Alabama’s Derrick Henry, who returns this season, averaged 7.3 yards per carry versus Ohio State in the College Football Playoff. Henry got only 13 carries while the QB at the time, Blake Sims, threw the football 36 times.
Hopefully, because Alabama may not even settle on a starter at quarterback until after this game, Kiffin will feed Henry the football versus Wisconsin. Running back Kenyan Drake has looked great during practice. He should get the football at least 10 times during this game if not 15 to 20. If Kiffin utilizes his offensive line and rushes the football, Alabama has a good shot at blowing out Wisconsin in this game.
I am picking Saban, Kiffin and the Crimson Tide to beat the Badgers. My final score prediciton is: Alabama 38, Wisconsin 14. Happy Hunting!
