Why bet on Wisconsin to beat Michigan
It appears that Wisconsin’s loss to BYU in Week 3 has put a dent in the Badgers College Football Playoff dreams. However, the team is still an elite Big 10 West team.
So why should you bet on Wisconsin at +9 to beat Michigan?
Surprisingly the Badgers have only lost one game by more than a touchdown over the last three seasons. That game was against top dog Alabama.
Those other six Badger losses by 7-points or less included a 24-17 loss to the then fourth-ranked Wolverines at Ann Arbor. Wisconsin beat Michigan 24-10 last season in Madison.
Moreover, in seven games on the road over the past two seasons, QB Alex Hornibrook has completed 70% of his passes for 1,276 yards with 17 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Why bet on Michigan to beat Wisconsin
Michigan has the nation’s top-ranked defense and their much-improved offense this year can boost the Wolverines to a top rated Bowl Game. But should you bet on Michigan at -9 to beat Wisconsin?
Last season, the Wolverines finished 91st in the nation in offensive scoring. So far this season, Michigan has scored more than 40-points in four of its last five games.
The boost is mostly thanks to quarterback Shea Patterson, who transferred from Ole Miss in the offseason. Patterson has completed 68.8% of his passes for 1,187 yards with ten touchdowns and three interceptions so far for Michigan. Senior running back Karan Higdon’s 582 yards and five touchdowns have come on just 101 carries.
This is the second time Michigan will face a ranked team this season. The Wolverines lost in week 1 to the then 12th-ranked Fighting Irish. Jim Harbaugh needs his team to win this game to prove Michigan deserves College Football Playoff consideration.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines Betting Pick
Wisconsin and Michigan have split their last two meetings. Their most recent head-to-head matchup ended with the Badgers covering a 14-point spread with a home victory. But these two clubs mirror each other with their grinding, physical styles.
This is going to be a fun game to watch, but the betting odds are too rich to warrant a Michigan pick. I am betting on the Wisconsin Badgers with the points.
