Thanksgiving Day is here, which means that it’s time for football handicappers to get into some great Turkey Day NFL action! Chicago battles Detroit in the early game while Philadelphia takes on Dallas with NFC East implications in the afternoon game. The night game pits Seattle and San Francisco against each other.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
When: Thursday, Nov. 27 at 12:30 pm ET
Betting Line: Detroit -6.5
Analysis: After the 14 to 55 loss to Green Bay, many decided to put a fork into the Bears. Chicago has bounced back with two quality victories, a 21 to 13 win over Minnesota and a 21 to 13 win over Tampa Bay.
The Chicago defense has definitely stepped it up, but the offense hasn’t done much. The good news is that Chicago is rushing the ball more and quarterback Jay Cutler’s last two QB ratings have been 98 and 87 after the 68.8 that he put up in Green Bay. Unfortunately for Cutler, Detroit’s defense is one of the best in the NFL.

Cutler is going to have to be perfect in order to keep Detroit from forcing him into turnovers in this game. If Cutler can’t do that, Detroit could very well blast the Bears in this matchup because the Lions figure to get Reggie Bush back and Calvin Johnson is due for a big performance. The guess here is that Ndamukong Suh and company will be too much for Cutler to handle while the Bears defense will take a step back versus Matthew Stafford after facing Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater.
Thanksgiving Day NFL Pick: Detroit -6.5
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
When: Thursday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 pm ET
Betting Line: Dallas -3
Analysis: The Cowboys go into this key NFC East battle after a terrific victory over the rival New York Giants on Sunday night. Tony Romo was awesome when marching the Cowboys down and scoring a touchdown with a minute left after Eli Manning had driven the Giants into the end zone for the lead.

The Cowboys’ defense is starting to crack. It gave up 20 points to Washington in a loss, 28 points to Arizona in a loss and 17 to Jacksonville before the ‘Boys’ bye week. The Giants put up 28 against Dallas this past Sunday night.
Since taking over for Nick Foles, QB Mark Sanchez has been good enough to lead the Eagles to wins over Houston, Carolina and Tennessee, but when he faced a really good team on the road, the Green Bay Packers, Sanchez folded. He threw 2 interceptions and completed less than 60% of his passes.
Sure, Dallas’ defense hasn’t been great, but it will be good enough to get to Sanchez. The Cowboys should cover the spread.
Thanksgiving Day NFL Pick: Dallas -3
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49’ers
When: Thursday, Nov. 27 at 8:30 pm ET
Betting Line: Pick
Analysis: The night game is a pick’em according to the football odds makers. Neither Seattle nor San Francisco deserves to be favored in this game, which sort of makes no sense since Seattle’s defense has been much better than San Francisco’s lately.
Seattle’s defense, based on total yards allowed, is now ranked first in the NFL. It has led the ‘Hawks to 4 wins in Seattle’s last 5 games. The only loss occurred to Kansas City on the road. Kansas City’s Jamal Charles might be the best player in the NFL.

San Francisco doesn’t have anybody that is close to as good as Charles is on their offense. More importantly, the 49’ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, continues to be less than stellar. Seattle should contain Kaepernick and score enough to win this game.
