2016 NFL Preseason Week 2 Free PicksJosh Bailey
Week 2 in the 2016 NFL Preseason is upon us. Already, certain team have signaled that their ready to get back to work. Other teams may need the next few weeks in order to sharpen the play on the field. One team that opened to great fanfare in preseason Week 1 was the Los Angeles Rams. Could the Rams make it 2 in a row at famed Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum versus the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday?
A Closer Look At My NFL Preseason Week 2 Free Picks
Oakland at Green Bay
When: Thursday, Aug. 18 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay
Analysis: High expectations abound for both the Raiders and the Packers going into the 2016 NFL Season. For Green Bay, anything less than an NFC Championship might be considered a failure. For the Oakland Raiders, making it to the playoffs is a big expectation after Oakland spent heavily to add to its already decent defense.
Oakland manhandled Arizona 31 to 10 in their first preseason game of the year. The most impressive player had to have been reserve RB George Atkinson III who had 5 carries for 97 yards. GAIII scored 2 touchdowns. Connor Cook also impressed when completing 7 of 11 passes.
Green Bay beat Cleveland 17 to 11 in their first preseason game. This happened after the NFL canceled the hall of fame game. Packers’ QB Joe Callahan completed 16 of 23 passes for 124 yards and a TD. I think that Green Bay gets it done again at Lambeau on Thursday.
Pick: Green Bay
Tampa Bay at Jacksonville
When: Saturday, Aug. 20 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville
Analysis: The Buccaneers scored only 9 points in a 9 to 17 loss to Philadelphia in NFL Preseason Week 1. QB Ryan Griffin from Tulane completed 13 of 23 passes for 148 yards. He also threw 2 interceptions.
Jacksonville has high expectations this season. Bortles to Robinson should be a hot go to combination in NFL Fantasy Football Drafts in 2016. In Jacksonville’s first game versus the Jets, the combination was rookie Brandon Allen to Robinson. Robinson caught 3 passes for 80 yards. RB Chris Ivory rushed 6 times for 26 yards. He scored a TD.
Jacksonville is the best bet in this NFL preseason week 2 matchup. I think Bortles sees some action while Tampa holds out Jameis Winston yet again.
Kansas City at Los Angeles
When: Saturday, Aug. 20 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles
Analysis: The Chiefs lost 16 to 17 to Seattle in their first NFL Preseason game of the year. They didn’t play any of their starters. Don’t expect to see Andy Reid’s starters show up in this matchup versus the Rams on Saturday, either.
Los Angeles showed up big time in their return to Hollywood. The Rams beat the popular Dallas Cowboys 28 to 24. It was an exciting game. L.A. figures to give QB Sean Mannion plenty of looks again in Week 2. Mannion completed 18 of 25 passes for 147 yards. He scored 3 touchdowns.
The Rams are the smart NFL betting pick in their NFL preseason week two tilt.
Pick: Los Angeles
