And in picking expert NFL Week 1 winners, I pondered how much better Oakland actually is over New Orleans. Could they beat New Orleans in the Superdome?

Minnesota tries to regroup after QB Teddy Bridgewater’s horrible injury versus Tennessee. Will AP carry the load? Or, is it the Titans’ backfield duo too strong for the Vikings?

Cincinnati battles the Jets in a game that could go a long way in determining the fortunes of both teams.

Analysis: Okay, I know that Oakland has improved on both defense and offense. I get that. But…really? The Saints are only 1 point favorites over the Raiders in the Superdome?  Everyone is chilly on New Orleans. This is especially true after DT Sheldon Rankins went down to an injury in the preseason.

But the Saints are still a mighty fine offensive squad. QB Drew Brees remains one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. WR Brandin Cooks could turn into one of the best wide receivers in the NFL this season. The offensive line is stacked while there are few teams as deep at running back as New Orleans.

Oakland has a chance to be extremely good. But they’ve got a tough assignment in Week 1 battling the Saints in the Dome. I love New Orleans at less than a field goal to win.

NFL Week 1 Expert Pick: New Orleans

What: Minnesota Vikings (0-0) at Tennessee Titans (0-0)
When: Sunday, September 11, 2016
Start Time: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Nashville, TN
Stadium: Nissan Stadium
Spread: PK
Moneyline: N/A
Game Total: 41

Listen: Tennessee vs Minnesota

Analysis: I feel bad for the Vikings. I feel bad for their fans. I really feel bad for QB Teddy Bridgewater. His career could be over after the devastating injury he suffered at Minnesota’s practice the other day.

If Bridgewater were playing in this game, Tennessee would have made my upsets of Week 1 article. But as it happens, the Titans are in a pick game with the Vikings due to Bridgewater’s injury. Minnesota still has plenty to offer offensively with one of the greatest running backs in NFL history on their squad in Adrian Peterson.

Speaking of running backs, the Titans have 2 that could reach 1,000 or more this season. Heisman Trophy winning rookie Derrick Henry has been unstoppable during the preseason. DeMarco Murray has looked great as well.

Henry and Murray have been so good that I almost forgot to mention that it’s Marcus Mariota’s second season at QB. The Titans’ rushing attack should control this battle from the outset.

NFL Week 1 Expert Pick: Tennessee

What: Cincinnati Bengals (0-0) at NY Jets (0-0)
When: Sunday, September 11, 2016
Start Time: 1:00 PM ET
Where: East Rutherford, NJ
Stadium: MetLife Stadium
Spread: Bengals -1
Moneyline: Cincinnati -133 at NY Jets +113
Game Total: 41.5
Watch: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Listen: Cincinnati vs NY Jets

Analysis: The Jets aren’t getting a lot of buzz this season. That’s too bad. Coach Todd Bowles has his team primed to battle New England for the AFC East. No, seriously. If Matt Forte has anything left in his legs, the Jets’ offense should be one of the better units in the AFC.

Cincinnati is a good team. I’m just not sure how badly losing Hue Jackson to run the offense is going to affect them. The Jets’ defense should be just fine with Bowles on the sidelines. To me, that’s what this game will come down to, which defense steps it up. I like the Jets’ D to step it up.

NFL Week 1 Expert Pick: NY Jets
