2016 NFL Week 1 Line Moves That MatterNoah Williams
With the start of the 2016 NFL regular season just hours away, pro football bettors everywhere need to now which NFL Week 1 betting odds have changed since the end of the preseason.
Now, let’s get started.
2016 NFL Week 1 Line Moves That Matter
Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos Thursday at 8:30 PM ET
The NFL betting line on the very first game of the 2016 regular season has seen Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers go from 1-point road dogs to 3-point faves to beat the Broncos in Denver.
A ton of money has been wagered on Carolina to get the win and ATS cover, so much so that the line for this contest moved another two points in favor of the Panthers.
A whopping 77 percent of public bettors like Carolina to bring home the bacon – and I say rightfully so, seeing as how the Panthers want revenge and Denver is starting a young and inexperienced quarterback in Trevor Siemian.
Personally, I don’t think the spread will matter much as I genuinely believe the Broncos don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of covering the spread, even as 3-point home dogs.

Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans Sunday at 1:00 PM ET
The Vikings opened as a 2.5-point road favorite over Tennessee a few weeks ago, but are now just 2-point road faves, most likely because of the injury to starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater last week.
The Titans looked phenomenal in the preseason, which is most likely why 43 percent of public bettors like the Titans to get the ATS upset at home.
Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts (Sunday at 4:25 PM ET)
The Colts opened as 5.5-point favorites and are the pick for 67% of public bettors, which is why the main reason the NFL betting line for this contest has moved a bit, dropping Indy to 3.5-point home favorite.
With the Colts also announcing that starting cornerback Vontae Davis will be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, Matthew Stafford and the Lions now look a lot more attractive, which is why I’m a bit surprised that the line has moved a full two points.
Miami at Seattle (Sunday at 4:05 PM ET)
The Seahawks opened as 7-point home favorites over Miami but are now, decisive 10-point favorites to beat a Dolphins team that didn’t exactly set the league on fire during the preseason.
While the latest line move has likely prompted a bunch of bettors to back the Dolphins to cover the NFL betting line, I think the 57 percent of public bettors that still like the Seahawks have gotten this Week 1 pick right.
