AAF Week 7 Odds & Betting Analysis

Orlando Apollos -8½ at Atlanta Legends +300
When: Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 pm ET
Where: Georgia Tech Stadium, Atlanta, GA
TV: TNT

Betting Analysis: In Week 6, the Arizona Hotshots handed the Orlando Apollos their first loss of the season. Playing at home, Orlando could only muster 17 points versus an outstanding Hotshots defense.

The Apollos will get back on track in Week 7. Orlando faces the team they dominated in Week 1 40-6 while Atlanta sprinted back to their losing ways in Week 6 after beating Memphis in Week 5. San Antonio clobbered the Legends 37-6.

Orlando rolls to an easy win and cover as a road favorite.

Pick: Orlando Apollos

Salt Lake Stallions +175 at San Antonio Commanders -5½
When: Saturday, March 23 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX
TV: NFL Net

Betting Analysis: Salt Lake’s defense came up huge in their fantastic 22-9 Week 6 win over the Memphis Express. The Stallions held Memphis running back Zac Stacey to a 2.8 per carry average. The former L.A. Rams’ running back could only muster 31 yards from 11 carries.

The Stallions also shut down Memphis quarterback Brandon Silvers. Although many things point to Salt Lake playing well enough to take down San Antonio on Saturday, the Commanders are an impressive 4-2 after dominating Atlanta 37-6 in Week 6.

San Antonio easily wins and covers.

Pick: San Antonio Commanders

San Diego Fleet +145 at Arizona Hotshots -3½
When: Sunday, March 24 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, AZ
TV: CBS Sports Net

Betting Analysis: Parity reigns in the American Alliance of Football. The Arizona Hotshots, the preseason favorite to win the inaugural championship, fell to the San Antonio Commanders in Week 5.

Arizona didn’t dwell on the loss. Instead, they picked themselves up and went right after undefeated Orlando in Week 6, beating the favored Apollos 22-17. The Hotshots defense came up huge.

Because they’re back on track, Zona should have no trouble stopping the Fleet, a squad they have yet to face this season. The Hotshots will use their tough running game to bury the Fleet.

Pick: Arizona Hotshots

Birmingham Iron -3 at Memphis Express +130
When: Sunday, March 24 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Liberty Bowl Stadium, Memphis, TN
TV: NFL Net

Betting Analysis: Memphis signed quarterback Johnny Manziel over the weekend. Coach Mike Singletary hopes Manziel rediscovers the Johnny Football magic he had slinging it all over the field versus SEC defenses while a Texas A&M Aggie.

Even if Manziel does become Johnny Football again, it won’t help Memphis on Sunday. He’s not likely to start after only a week of practice. Also, Birmingham isn’t named the Iron for nothing while Memphis is so awful moving the football that the Iron would have to thoroughly fold on defense to lose this game and not cover.

Pick: Birmingham Iron
