Why Bet On Atlanta (-2) to Beat Dallas
Atlanta D faces a shorthanded Cowboys offense.
2 and 0 Dallas has had a bad first two weeks of the NFL Season. The Cowboys are undefeated because they have an excellent offensive line, their defense is playing much better than many thought it would, and they have one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Well, they had one of the top QBs in the league.
Dallas has lost both its starting QB in Tony Romo and its best WR in Dez Bryant. The Cowboys may now be without TE Jason Witten for this game. The best thing the Cowboys can do in this situation is rush the football behind their excellent offensive line. Utilizing QB Bandon Weeden isn’t a terrible thing. He should be effective in some games, but he’ll only be effective if Dallas can establish the run.
Although many have had their doubts, the defense in Atlanta has turned into a top unit. Yes, Atlanta gives up a passing yards, but it also causes turnovers and stuffs the run game. The defense is the primary reason that Atlanta upset Philadelphia 26 to 24 in Week 1 and then beat the Giants 24 to 20 in Week 2. No team has rushed for 100 yards against Atlanta yet. That gives the Falcons a big edge in this game.

Why Bet On Dallas to Beat Atlanta (-2)
No Demarco, No Dez, No Romo.
Dallas is usually an even keeled team, but with injuries to DE Randy Gregory, QB Tony Romo and WR Dez Bryant, the Cowboys are going to have to rely on motivation in order to get them through a tough battle with the Atlanta Falcons. If the Cowboys were facing a team like the Saints or Buccaneers, the story might be different.
Neither one of those teams has a defensive genius or in his prime stud quarterback like Matt Ryan. Neither team has WR Julio Jones either. The Cowboys are overmatched on both offense and defense in this game. Dan Quinn hasn’t made a mistake as a head coach yet while after an okay performance versus the Eagles, Ryan threw for 363 yards and a TD with no interceptions against the Giants. Julio Jones has 22 catches for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2 games.
Real motivation occurs along the offensive line. If the Cowboys are able to push back the Falcons’ front seven, they’ll have shot. The offensive line should be conservative and look for 3.5 yards a carry. Then, things could open up for Weeden in the second half. Unfortunately, that’s not likely to be the case. Atlanta is one of the best teams in the league versus the run. Not that the Cowboys have a run game.
I am picking the Atlanta Falcons to beat the Dallas Cowboys as the smart bet. My final score prediction is Atlanta 28, Dallas 14.
