NFL Week 1 betting action will be off the hook when the 4.5-point underdog Baltimore Ravens travel to Mile High to face the Denver Broncos. This is the second time in three years that these two teams open the season as opponents. Their last meeting was in 2013 when Peyton Manning dropped an NFL-record seven touchdown passes on the then defending Super Bowl champion Ravens. The Broncos won the game by a 49-27 rout as 7.5-point favorites.
"I felt like we had to keep scoring because Baltimore can score at any time," said Manning about his record setting game.

New Broncos head-coach Gary Kubiak is a great fit for Denver. Especially in week 1. He was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator last season, everybody involved in this one will have a good idea of what’s coming.
Peyton Manning (4727 yards, 39 TDs and 15 INTs) will run an offense that won’t rely on the pedal-to-the-metal philosophy of the last two seasons. The Broncos are hoping to reduce the number of throws Manning has to make by running the ball more. Kubiak is a RB-whisperer. Look at his success with Arian Foster and most recently Justin Forsett.

Last season, the Broncos offense was ranked 4th overall. Their pass attack was also 4th in the league while their rush attach lagged behind at 15. RB C.J. Anderson (179 att, 849 yards, 8 TDs) climbed the depth chart and ended the season as the undisputed starter in the Broncos backfield. Super star ball catchers Demaryius Thomas (111 rec, 1619 yards, 11 TDs) and Emmanuel Sanders (101 rec, 1404 yards, 9 TDs) proved to be top targets for Peyton.

You can always count on the Baltimore Ravens to be competitive. Since winning the Super Bowl in 2000, the Ravens have had just three losing seasons, and the last one was 2007. Coach John Harbaugh has never finished under .500 in his seven seasons.
Last season the offense finished the season ranked 12th in league, 13th in passing and 8th when rushing. The losses of OC Kubiak and long-time WR Torrey Smith will hurt QB Joe Flacco (3986 yards, 27 TDs and 12 INTs)

The biggest beneficiary of ex-offensive cooridnater Kubiak’s zone running scheme in Baltmore was RB Justin Forsett (235 att, 1266 yards, 8 TDs). He went from being a journeyman rusher to one of the best running backs in football. Forsett had 1,692 yards in his first six NFL seasons. He had 1,266 in his seventh season, with Kubiak. Forsett was rewarded with a three-year contract worth a reported $9 million
|2014 Offensive Leaders||2014 Defensive Leaders|

The Ravens are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog of 3.5-10.0 points, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 1, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog, but 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 vs. AFC teams.
The Broncos are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0 points, 10-24 ATS in their last 34 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0 points, 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September, but 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games on grass.
I am picking the Ravens with the points as a smart bet for this matchup. My final score prediction is Denver 30, Baltimore 27.
Players Out or Doubtful:
- Baltimore: Lorenzo Taliaferro, Breshad Perriman, Tray Walker, Brent Urban
- Denver: Derek Wolfe.
