Why Bet On Cincinnati to Beat Baltimore (-3)
RB Jeremy Hill will bounce back.
Baltimore’s vaunted defense has played horribly to start the season. Although the Ravens defense did a good job of only giving up 19 points to Denver in Week 1, it was facing statistically the worst offense in the NFL. In Week 2, Baltimore allowed Oakland to score 37 points. The Raiders rushed for only 97 yards. But, QB Derek Carr passed for 351 yards and 3 touchdowns.

If Carr can do that to Baltimore’s defense, what is Andy Dalton going to do? Dalton has been on fire in Cincinnati’s first 2 games of the season. He pummeled Oakland in Week 1 with 269 yards and 2 touchdowns while completing 25 of 34 pass attempts. In Week 2, he destroyed San Diego with 214 yards and 3 touchdown passes. The Bengals also rushed for 175 yards, which is why Dalton’s yardage wasn’t as much as it could have been.
Baltimore’s defense is allowing 250.5 passing yards per game. The Ravens are giving up passing yards to anybody who wants them. Since Baltimore is trying to stop the run, a QB like Dalton should be able to shred the Ravens’ secondary in this game.
Why Bet On Baltimore (-3) to Beat Cincinnati
The Ravens are no longer a defensive juggernaut, Flacco needs to be the star.
Both teams are known for decent defenses. The difference this season is that both squads are going to excel with their offense first. This is especially true for Baltimore who fields one of the better offenses in the NFL.
The Ravens put up 33 points versus Oakland in Week 2. Baltimore couldn’t stop Oakland’s offense while on defense, but they could sure score against the Raiders’ D. Flaaco threw for 384 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Ravens rushed for 109 yards.
In the first game versus the Bengals last season, Flaaco threw for 345 yards and a TD. In the second game versus Cincinnati last season, Flaaco threw for only 195 yards. He tossed 2 picks and didn’t throw any touchdowns. Which Joe Flaaco that shows up on Sunday will determine how well the Baltimore Ravens play in this matchup.

So far, Flaaco has played well. He is an elite quarterback based on winning a Super Bowl. The Ravens get Cincinnati at home in this game, meaning that Flaaco should have a good showing. But even if Flaaco gets hot, it might not be enough for Baltimore to win this contest. Cincinnati is just the better team this season. The Bengals beat the Ravens twice in 2014. They should have the Ravens’ number in 2015. I am picking the Bengals to cover the 2.5-point betting spread. My final score prediction is Cincinnati 37, Baltimore 31.
