Why Bet On The Green Bay Packers To Beat The Jaguars
The Green Bay Packers are favored in every regular season game this season.
Green Bay knows they were unlucky in injury last season. After losing stud WR Jordy Nelson in the preseason and Eddie Lacey coming into the season overweight, their offense never got going during the year. Even with all that, the Packers were close to making a post-season run last year only to lose to the Cardinals in the NFC Divisional Playoff game.
This season, QB Aaron Rodgers will get his best weapon back in WR Jordy Nelson, who has had a whole year to rehab his knee. The team signed TE Jared Cook, who will give him an option in up the middle of the offense.
“I spent a lot of time with Jared Cook, and he’s a fine, fine young man,” Packers Mike McCarthy said at the NFL annual meetings. “I was impressed with him. So we’ll see what happens. It’s in the business phase of it, and that’s where it stands.”
Also, we should expect RB Eddy Lacy to be a difference maker. Last season he was dogged with weight issues. He spent the offseason training with P-90X creator Tony Horton and has impressed during camp. I expect the Packers offense will be ready to roll in week one. Aaron Rodgers should get back to his usual self.
Why Bet On The Jacksonville Jaguars To Beat The Packers
The Jacksonville Jaguars are the most improved team in the NFL.
The Jaguars offense made a huge leap last season towards becoming one of the best units in the NFL. The team finished the 2015 season 10th best in passing yards. QB Blake Bortles threw for 4428 yards and 35 TDs. Catching balls from Bortles were WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns who caught 1400 and 1031 receiving yards, respectively. They also combined for 24 touchdown receptions.
“We are the No. 1 duo in the league,” Hurns told to ESPN. “You just look at what we’ve done this past season. Even though guys like Brandon Marshall and [Eric] Decker did a tremendous job, [and] Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, but you look at it as far as we probably had like 50 less catches combined than all of those guys and our yardage is up there. As far as touchdowns, the same thing.
On defense, the Jaguars need to improve after finishing second worst in points allowed in 2015. That’s why the front office didn’t hold back in the free agency. They brought in veteran CB Prince Amukamara and DE Malik Jackson to add some swagger to their D. The highly talented draft additions of CB Jalen Ramsey and OLB Myles Jack have also made this D stronger.

My NFL Week 1 ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
There is too much talent on both offenses to think the defenses will win any of the matchups. I expect the Packers to win, but they will find it hard to cover the 4.5-point spread. Bet the OVER in this game.
My final score prediction is Green Bay 31, Jacksonville 28.
