The Buffalo Bills will look to win their third straight preseason game in this matchup while the Detroit Lions look to win their second straight of the scrimmage season. The NFL oddsmakers have listed the Lions as 1-point favorites over the Bills.
Looking Closer At The Buffalo Bills Vs Detroit Lions Betting Spread, My Against The Spread Pick & How To Watch
The Bills are coming off a convincing 43-19 blowout over Pittsburgh in Week 3 in which quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor, E.J. Manuel Matt Sims and Matt Cassel all played extremely well. With Taylor being named the Bills’ regular season starter, he’ll sit this one out.
The Bills will enter this contest on something of a downer after releasing beloved longtime running back Fred Jackson, though the aging back has been quite productive this preseason.
E.J. Manuel will likely make the start in this one for the Bills and that could spell big trouble for the Lions seeing as how Manuel tossed two TD passes the last time and has generally looked nothing sort of phenomenal this preseason.
Detroit will counter with veteran backup Dan Orlovsky in place of starter Matthew Stafford with third-stringer Kellen Moore likely playing the majority of the second half. The Lions have been bolstered by the play of rookie running backs Ameer Abdullah and even less heralded rookie, Zach Zenner, the league’s preseason rushing leader with 162 yards on 25 carries.

Still, this is a game the Bills should win despite being on the road. Buffalo will have the best quarterback on the field throughout the contest, whether it’s Manuel, Cassel or even Sims and I suspect their blossoming defense will give whoever’s under center for Detroit, absolute fits.
Bills are 5-1 ATS in their last six games but the Lions have compiled an identical 5-1 ATS mark in their last half-dozen games in the month of September. The bad news for Lions betting backers is the fact that Detroit has gone 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games.
Back the Bills to win outright and cash in! My final score prediction is Bills 24 Lions 20.
