Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons NFL Week 17 Odds & Final Score Prediction

If the Atlanta Falcons want to ensure their chance of getting into the playoffs in an effort to repeat as NFC champions, the task for Week 17 is quite simple. Win and get in!

The Week 17 NFL odds favor Atlanta by 3.5-points over Carolina. The over/under is 46.5.

Bet Carolina Because…

Carolina hits their regular season finale on fire, having won three straight and seven of their last eight games overall! The Panthers could wind up with the second seed in the playoffs even though I don’t see that scenario happening. Carolina will win the NFC South with a win over Atlanta and a Saints loss to tamp Bay (not gonna’ happen). Carolina could also move all the way up to the second seed with a first-round bye if the Vikings and Rams also lose (again, not gonna’ happen). At the very least, they’ll have the higher of the two wild-card seeds.

Bet Atlanta Because…

The Falcons have all the motivation they need after falling to New Orleans 23-13 last weekend. The good news is that the Falcons have been playing decent football in winning five of their last seven games. Even if the Falcons lose their regular season finale against Carolina, they could get into the playoffs if Seattle loses to Arizona in their regular-season finale.

Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons NFL Week 17 Final Score Prediction

For this regular season finale, I like Atlanta to get the win and narrow ATS cover as part of their regular season series split against Carolina after losing to the Panthers 20-17 in Carolina back on Nov. 5. Carolina is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games and that’s all fine and well, but the Panthers aren’t covering the chalk in this one, seeing as how the home team in this NFC South division rivalry has gone 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.

I’m not really fond of the extra half point over the field goal in this one, but I’m thinking Matt Ryan and company are just good enough to get the win and cover against a Panthers team that could rest their starters late in the second half if the outcome is out of reach!
