The Chicago Bears are 3-5 straight up and 4-4 against the spread so far this season. They average 20.3 points (25th), 237.4 passing yards (21st), 109.8 rushing yards (16th) per game. Last week, they squeaked past the San Diego Chargers 22-19 on Monday Night Football.
QB Jay Cutler has thrown 1787 yards, 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions while completing 62.8% of his passes this season. Against the Chargers, he had an interception returned for a touchdown and lost a fumble, but Cutler kept attacking San Diego’s depleted secondary and completed 27 of 40 passes for 345 yards.
“We have got to figure out how to win in the fourth quarter,” Cutler said. “We have talked about it. We’ve won games in the fourth quarter, we’ve lost in the fourth quarter. That’s what the NFL is about. You have to play your best in the fourth quarter, and that’s what coach [John] Fox has talked about. It’s good that it happened today, but we have to continue it.”

WR Alshon Jeffery (33 rec, 492 yards, 2 TDs) has returned to form after missing much of the beginning of the season to injuries. He has caught at least 10 balls per game over the past two games. Against the Chargers, Jeffery had 10 catches for 151 yards. He did’t score, but was tackled deep in the red-zone on a couple drives that ended as TDs for another Bear. TE Martellus Bennett (45 rec, 381 yards, 3 TDs) has succeeded as Cutler’s safety receiver this year.
RB Jeremy Langford (45 att, 152 yards, 3 TDs) started for injured RB Matt Forte (136 yards, 548 yards, 2 TDs), who is dealing with a knee injury. Langford finished with 72 rushing yards and a score, along 70 receiving yards in San Diego.
Chicago’s defense allows 27.6 points (27th), 220.0 passing yards (5th), 121.6 rushing yards (24th) per game. Christian Jones leads the team with 49 tackles, Pernell McPhee has five sacks and Kyle Fuller has four passes deflected.
If You Are Betting On The St. Louis Rams Odds At -7
The St. Louis Rams are 4-4 straight up and against the spread so far this season. They average 19.1 points (30th), 177.1 passing yards (32nd) and 135.5 rushing yards (4th) per game. Last week they lost to the Minnesota Vikings 21-18 in overtime.
QB Nick Foles completed 18 of 33 passes for 168 yards for the Rams, who punted eight times and were penalized 12 times for 87 yards. They rallied from being down 10-0 less than 10 minutes into the game.
Foles continues to struggle with his new offense after being acquired from the Eagles in the off-season. He has thrown 1478 yards, 7 TDs & 5 INTs this season, completing 58.2% of his passes.
WR Kenny Britt (15 rec, 311 yards, 1 TDs) and WR Tavon Austin (28 rec, 300 yards, 4 TDs) are the most dangerous players on the Rams struggling offense. The team signed WR Wes Welker this week, but it’s unclear how many action he will see in this game. He hasn’t played all season saying he didn’t rush to sign with a team during the offseason after his wife gave birth to twins but has kept in football shape.
“I don’t see myself as being the solution,” Welker said. “I’m just here trying to learn the offense and trying to contribute any way I can.”
RB Todd Gurley (118 att, 664 yards, 4 TDs) is gunning for offensive rookie of the year honors after missing time early in the season due to extensive rehab after his devastating knee injury in his final year in college. He rushed for at least 128 yards in each of his first four starts for the Rams (4-4) before finishing with 89 and a touchdown in last week’s 21-18 overtime loss to Minnesota.
The rookie averaged 3.7 yards per carry after entering with a league-best average of 6.12.
