Chicago Vs. Green Bay Sunday Night Football Betting Tips

Welcome to the NFC North on Sunday Night Football with a matchup between the visiting Chicago Bears (3-5, 4th in NFC North) and the Green Bay Packers (5-3, 2nd in NFC North).

NFL week 10’s SNF matchup brings us a historic rivalry that has fizzled over the last few years. Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson and the Packers will host the very dysfunctional Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Bears at freezing Lambeau Field with temperatures dipping to the low 30s by kick-off.

This will be the 190th meeting between these two teams, and the Bears hold a 93-90-6 series lead (1-1 in playoff games). However, the Packers have won 10 of the last 12 meetings with the Bears, and under head coach Mike McCarthy (who just received a nice contract extension) the Packers are 12-6 against the Bears.

Bears Vs. Packers Sunday Night Football Betting Tips

The Packers and Bears follow up for an encore to their Week 4 matchup at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Packers dismantled the Bears and won 38-17 on the road. Aaron Rodgers threw for 302 yards and four TDs. Jay Cutler threw for 256 yards and two TDs along with two costly INTs that both lead to Packer TDs. Cutler is 1-9 all-time against the Packers in the regular season with 19 interceptions and 13 TDs.

Cutler’s turnovers are just one of the issues for Chicago second-year coach Marc Trestman. The Bears have given up a league-worst 32.0 points per game in their last five contests and are tied with Atlanta for the highest passing yards allowed per attempt at 8.71.

"We will not quit on the season. We will not quit on ourselves. We’re not going to quit on each other," general manager Phil Emery said. "We feel, without question, we built a work ethic, a system of doing things in this building is in place to have the consistency we need to win. We’re disappointed because we haven’t done that."

Both teams are coming off of a loss followed by a bye week providing both squads time to heal and prepare.

Rodgers and Cutler are both averaging 262 passing yards per game this season, but Rodgers has thrown 19 TDs with only three INTs while Cutler has thrown 17 TDs with eight INTs. Mr. Discount Double Check’s rating of 113.6 is best in the NFL this season, and Cutler is ranked 11th with a rating of 95.8. Green Bay is scoring 27.8 points per game (6th) this season, and Chicago, with all of their offensive weapons, is ranked 19th, scoring 22.5 points per game.

The Packers’ defense is allowing 379.3 yards per game (25th), and Chicago’s is allowing 372.4 (21st). Green Bay’s pass defense is giving up 225.8 yards per game (9th) while Chicago is allowing 262.3 yards per game (23rd) through the air. Green Bay’s rush defense is atrocious, allowing a league worst 153.5 yards per game on the ground, while Chicago is giving up 110.1 yards per game (13th) rushing.

The Bears need to establish a running attack with Matt Forte if they want to win this game. Forte has 562 rushing yards and is second in the league with 58 receptions for 490 yards, had a season-high 122 yards on 23 carries and five catches for 49 against Green Bay in September.

Forte has averaged 119.0 rushing yards in his last three matchups with the Packers and 169.0 all purpose yards.

If the Bears can play their first complete game of the season and limit their turnovers, then this could be a close game and possibly a loss for the Pack at Lambeau.
