Chicago Vs Houston NFL Week 1 Spread Betting PickNoah Williams
The Houston Texans are looking to improve on their consecutive one-and-done postseason appearances in 2016 under new starting quarterback Brock Osweiler. Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears are hoping to build on their mediocre first season under head coach John Fox a year ago while returning to the playoffs for the first time in several years.

Now, let’s find out if the Texans can cover the NFL Week 1 betting spread as home favorites over Chicago.
Chicago Bears Vs Houston Texans NFL Week 1 Spread Betting & My ATS Pick

Bet The Chicago Bears at +6.5 Because…
Chicago (6-10 SU, 8-8 ATS) will be led by veteran quarterback Jay Cutler and he has a pair of gifted wide receivers to throw to in Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White. Still, I expect the Bears to miss the dual-threat contributions of departed former franchise star Matt Forte and just don’t see new starter Jeremy Langford being nearly as good as Forte was for years. Right now, I’m thinking the Bears had better find some way to improve n offense that ranked an uninspiring 22nd in scoring (20.9 ppg).
The question is are the Bears a smart against the spread betting pick when they visit the Texans?
Chicago also ranked a mediocre 20th in points allowed (24.8 ppg) and is apparently counting on a bunch of their young players growing up in a hurry. The Bears lost their first three preseason games before handing Cleveland in their finale to finish at 1-3.
Bet The Houston Texans at -6.5 Because…
Houston (9-8 SU, 9-8 ATS) is looking to build on their consecutive nine-win seasons under head coach Bill O’Brien and signed quarterback Brock Osweiler to get them there after they were spanked in their 30-0 wild card loss against Kansas City a year ago. But should you bet on Houston to cover the 6.5-point spread as favorites at home against the Bears?
Osweiler will throw early and often to wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and rookie Will Fuller while handing off to new starting running back Lamar Miller, who comes over from Miami after rushing for 872 yards on 194 carries last season. Hopkins became a flat-out start last season by catching 111 passes for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns from four different starting quarterbacks.
Defensively, Houston ranked a stellar seventh in points allowed (19.6 ppg) and has a ton of talent starting with Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt., linebacker Brian Cushing and cornerback Jonathan Joseph.
My NFL Week 1 Bears vs Texans ATS Pick
This Week 1 matchup is a virtual lock alert NFL betting enthusiasts. There’s not a whole lot of thinking that needs to go into making this pick with the Houston Texans simply being the better team in all three phases of the game.
I fully expect the Texans’ voracious defense to force Jay Cutler into at lest one costly turnover while Houston’s new-look offense puts just enough points on the board against Chicago’s underwhelming defense to cover the spread.
I know the Bears are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, but Jay Cutler and company are also just 1-4 ATS in their last five games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games in the month of September. Conversely, the Texans have gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 4-2 TS in their last six home dates.
The Texans will win and cover the spread!
