NFL Christmas Week Upset Picks

NFL Christmas Week Upset Picks

From where I sit, there is a trio major upsets appear to be brewing in the NFL during Christmas Week that you can use to cash in big. Washington, with their franchise quarterback, heads to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in what might be an NFC East elimination game. Dallas battles Buffalo in the Disappointment Bowl, much more was expected out of both teams this season, while I’ll once again try and beat Carolina. This time, I’m resting my hopes on Atlanta who finally showed signs of life in Week 15. Keep reading for my top upsets in NFL Week 16!

A Closer Look At My ? Week NFL Upset Picks

What: Washington (7-7) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-8)
When: Saturday, December 26, 2015
Kickoff: 8:25 PM ET
Where: Philadelphia, PA
Stadium: Lincoln Financial Field
Spread: Eagles -3.5
Moneyline: Washington +155 vs Philadelphia -175
Game Total: 48.5
Watch: NFL
Stream: NFL Network
Listen: Washington vs Philadelphia

Analysis: If you don’t believe that Washington’s Kirk Cousins is a franchise QB, check out these stats in the DC’ers last 4 games:  302 yards, 69% completion percentage, 1 TD and a 114.4 QB rating against the Giants, 219 yards, 71% completion percentage, 1 TD and a 101.4 QB rating against the Cowboys, 300 yards, 77.4% completion percentage, 1 TD and 1 pick and a 104.2 QB rating against the Bears, and 319 yards, 78.6% QB rating 4 TDs to 0 picks and a 153.7 QB rating against Buffalo. Cousins is the man in Washington. He should have no trouble dominating a Philadelphia defense that’s allowing 260 passing yards and 393 total yards per game on average.

Pick: Washington

What: Dallas Cowboys (4-10) at Buffalo Bills (6-8)
When: Sunday, December 27, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Buffalo, NY
Stadium: Ralph Wilson Stadium
Spread: Bills -6
Moneyline: Dallas +240 vs Buffalo -280
Game Total: 43.5
Watch: FOX
Stream: Fox Sports Go
Listen: Dallas vs Buffalo

Analysis: Doesn’t it feel like Buffalo has thrown in the towel? The once feared Buffalo defense has given up 20 points or more in 5 straight games. The Bills are 1 and 4 straight up and 1-3-1 ATS in the Bills last 5.

Dallas is a bad team and QB Kellen Moore looked horrible against the Jets, but he has a full week of practice to get things right. Not only that, Moore has a seriously talented offensive line that he can play behind. He also gets to throw the ball to WR Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten. Dallas can come up with a big upset on the moneyline in this game.

Pick: Dallas

What: Carolina Panthers (14-0) at Atlanta Falcons (7-7)
When: Sunday, December 27, 2015
Kickoff: 1:00 PM ET
Where: Atlanta, GA
Stadium: Georgia Dome
Spread: Panthers -7
Moneyline: Carolina -300 vs Atlanta +250
Game Total: 47
Watch: FOX
Stream: Fox Sports Go
Listen: Carolina vs Atlanta

Analysis: The Panthers have done nothing to get me excited about Atlanta’s chances of beating them straight up in Week 16. The truth is that I just feel that Carolina is going to lose 1 of their next 2 games. Since the Panthers play Tampa Bay at home in their final regular season game, this has to be the matchup where Carolina takes a dump. Atlanta looked good beating Jacksonville 23 to 17 in Week 15.

QB Matt Ryan finally started throwing the ball to Julio Jones again. Jones caught 9 passes for 118 yards. He also caught a TD. Although Panther cornerback Josh Norman is very good, he should have a tougher time against Jones than he did versus Odell Beckham. Beckham is 5’ 11” and a vertical pass catcher. Jones is much more of an across the middle type who can run for yardage. Plus, Jones is 6’3” and weighs 220 lbs. My hope is that Ryan and Jones will click again on Sunday. Atlanta can pick it up enough at home to hang a loss onto the undefeated Panthers.

Pick: Atlanta
