Can Lowly Colts Contain Watson to Cover Chalk in Houston in Week 9 AFC South Divisional Battle?
The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans are clearly heading in polar opposite directions this season despite the fact that the Texans have just one more win on the season than the Colts. The fact of the matter is that Houston has a blossoming star in rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson while Indianapolis seems to be rudderless and no one knows when or if they’ll ever see franchise quarterback Andrew Luck back in a Colts uniform.
Now, as they get set for their Week 9 AFC South divisional matchup, let’s find out if Indy can cover the chalk as near, two-touchdown road dogs against the gifted Watson and company. This game is going down live from NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET while airing on CBS.

Why Bet on the Indianapolis Colts Spread at +13
Why should you bet on Indianapolis in this contest? Well, because the Colts put up a good effort last week against Cincinnati and they’re getting a whopping two touchdowns against a team that has only one more victory than they do. The Colts almost got their third win of the season last week by narrowly failing to upset the Bengals in their 24-23 road loss and they got a solid performance out of quarterback Jacoby Brissett as the second-year signal-caller threw for 233 yards with a pair of touchdowns and one interception. Indianapolis also got a decent performance out of veteran running back Frank Gore as he rushed for 82 yards while Indy’s defense sacked Andy Dalton three times.
Why Bet on the Houston Texans Spread at -13
Why bet on the Texans in this contest? Well, because they have a super-gifted quarterback in Deshaun Watson and have scored a whopping 33 points or more in five straight games. While Houston ended up on the wrong side of a heartbreaking 41-38 loss against Seattle last weekend, Watson came out of that contest getting ‘mad props’ from several Seahawks veterans like Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson after throwing four TD passes (although he also tossed three picks). Watson is tied for the league lead with Philly’s Carson Wentz with 19 TD passes in his first season in the league and we are only at Week 9.
Colts Vs Texans ATS Pick
Indianapolis is getting a bunch of points in this one and 57 percent of the betting public likes them to cover, but I don’t – especially seeing the way they gave up an insane 10 sacks to Jacksonville two weeks ago! The Colts are a robust 11-2 ATS in their last 13 road games against a team with a losing home record, but most of that was compiled with a healthy Luck under center and that’s certainly not the case right now.
With Indianapolis going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 division matchups and Houston going both, 9-3-1 ATS in their last 12 division matchups and a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall, I like Deshaun Watson to lead the Texans to the big win and ATS cover.
