Analysis: These 2 teams knocked heads on Nov. 29 with Denver winning 31 to 24 in overtime. The AFC Championship Game is going to be different for both teams. In the battle on Nov. 29, the Patriots played without star wide receiver Julian Edelman. Edelman is healthy for this game. Denver started Brock Osweiler at QB. Future hall-of-famer and Tom Brady rival Peyton Manning laces on the cleats for the AFC Championship on Sunday.

What matters more?

From my perspective, Peyton’s ability to run the Denver offense matters more than Edelman’s return to the starting line-up. The Broncos allowed Brady to throw for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns in that late November game. The defense should be much better against Brady this Sunday. Denver’s D was monstrous versus Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger when dropping Big Ben 3 times and holding the 2 time Super Bowl winning QB to 339 yards but no touchdowns. Pitt rushed for only 85 yards.

New England doesn’t have much of a rushing attack. The Patriots will have to pass in order to score against Denver. That gives Denver’s defense a lot of options including playing in a zone while still marking Edelman and Gronk. When it comes to Denver’s offense, Peyton may not have the arm strength that he once had, but he does have the ability to audible to running plays. KC rushed for 135 yards versus the Pats. Expect Manning to take advantage of what he sees on film of that game.  I like Denver to keep this within a field goal.

Pick: Denver

NFL Betting Over/Under Game Total Picks

What: Arizona Cardinals (13-3) at Carolina Panthers (15-1)
When: Sunday, January 24, 2016

Stadium: Bank of America Stadium
Spread: Panthers -3
Moneyline: Arizona +148 vs Carolina -168
Game Total: 47

Listen: Arizona vs Carolina

Analysis: The word is out on both Carolina’s and Arizona’s offense. Sure, Arizona is ranked fifth in the NFL in total yards allowed per game. Yes, Carolina is ranked sixth in total yards allowed per game. But, the fortunes of both of these teams rest on their high-powered offenses.

Carolina leans on the best rushing attack in the NFL. The Panthers average 142.6 yards on the ground per game. What’s crazy is that not only do the Panthers have one of the best rushers in the NFL in RB Johnathan Stewart, but they also have the best rushing QB in the league in Cam Newton. Newton can take over a game with his legs. Since his passing has been almost as good, Newton has thrown for 3837 yards this season, it’s impossible to stop Carolina from scoring points. The Panthers average 31 points per game.

It’s impossible to stop the number one ranked offense in the NFL from scoring points as well. The Cardinals average 408.3 yards per game. That ranks the Cardinals first in the NFL in yards per game. Arizona is ranked second in points per game at 30.6. Arizona has the best three wide receiver set in the NFL with John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd.

It’s hard see either team’s defense stopping either team’s offense. Both teams have a good shot of scoring in the 30’s in this. I’m going over.

Analysis: Vegas is finally jumping on the Carolina band wagon. Ever since the playoffs started, Carolina has been the team in which the odds makers had no faith. How else do you explain the Panthers only being a -2.5 point underdog against Seattle in the Divisional Playoffs? So many football handicappers knocked Carolina to start the playoffs.

Nobody’s knocking Carolina now. Even though Arizona started out the playoffs as the favorite in the NFC to make the Super Bowl, it’s Carolina who is favored over Arizona in the NFC Conference Championship Game. The Panthers could win this game easily because Cam Newton is a better leader than Carson Palmer is. Cam’s will is infectious. That’s why the Panthers have lost only a single game this season. I expect Carolina to get the job done and march into the Super Bowl.

Pick: Carolina
