Miami Dolphins Vs NY Jets Spread & ATS Pick
There are big changes under center with both teams. The Dolphins will start backup Matt Moore for the first time since 2011 because of a knee sprain to starter Ryan Tannehill. The Jets will go with Bryce Petty, who won his first career start last week after Ryan Fitzpatrick has struggled all season.

Why Bet The Miami Dolphins To Beat The Jets
After getting thrashed by the Ravens two weeks ago, Miami bounced back with a 26-23 win over the defensive-minded Arizona Cardinals. The Dolphins are 8-5 SU and 7-5-1 ATS this season. Miami averages 21.6 points per game (20th) and allow 23.2 points per game (17th).
Miami averages 217.4 passing yards per game (27th). QB Ryan Tannehill (2995 yards, 19 TDs & 12 INTs) sprained his left knee last week and likely will be sidelined for the rest of the season. QB Matt Moore will lead the playoff push, and on Tuesday, the Dolphins signed T.J. Yates to back him up. Moore completed three of his five passes for 47 yards in the last quarter against Arizona. He’s 13-12 as a starter with 33 TDs thrown and 28 interceptions.
“Matt’s been in this league for nine or 10 years, I believe,” Dolphins guard Jermon Bushrod said. “He’s played in a lot of games. He’s started a lot of games, so if things go that way, go in that direction, then we have to rally behind our guy.”
WR Jarvis Landry (79 rec, 923 yards, 2 TDs) and Kenny Stills (34 rec, 598 yards, 6 TDs) will need to elevate their game to make Moore’s life easier. The Dolphins average 109.3 rushing yards per game (12th). RB Jay Ajayi (193 car, 956 yards, 7 TDs) has averaged 62.0 rushing yards in the last five games.
The Dolphins own the 25th-ranked total defense in the NFL. Miami allows 234.0 passing yards per game (12th) and 133.8 rushing yards per game (30th). Kiko Alonso has 97 tackles, and Andre Branch has 5.5 sacks.
Why Bet The NY Jets To Beat The Dolphins
The NY Jets snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 last week. The Jets are 4-9 SU and 5-7-1 ATS this season. They average 17.6 points per game (28th) and allow 24.9 points per game (24th).
The Jets average 222.5 passing yards per game (26th). QB Bryce Petty (574 yards, 2 TDs & 4 INTs) earned the first career win after completing 23 of 35 passes for 257 yards and an interception. WR Brandon Marshall (56 rec, 744 yards, 3 TDs) caught only three passes for 33 yards last week.
"I’m not going to say he went out there and played lights out or that he played at the level a top-tier guy would play at," Marshall said. "This is his second start and his second year. He made the plays that he’s supposed to. That two-point conversion was something special. That shows you the type of guy he is. He’s fiery and he’ll give you everything he’s got."
New York averages 111.4 rushing yards per game (10th). RB Bilal Powell (78 car, 456 yards, 3 TDs) destroyed San Francisco with 145 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. RB Matt Forte (214 car, 792 yards, 7 TDs) left the game with a knee injury.
New York has the 19th-ranked total defense in the NFL. They allow 253.0 passing yards per game (22nd) and 102.5 rushing yards per game (17th). David Harris has 75 tackles and Leonard Williams has 7.0 sacks.

Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
The Dolphins are a horrible December team to bet on, going 1-12 ATS in their last 13 games during the holiday month. The team from the Sunshine State has been known to struggle on the road in cold weather games. A prime example is their 38-6 loss at the Baltimore Ravens as 3.5-point dogs two weeks ago. In addition, prime time hasn’t been kind to the Dolphins. They are 3-11 straight up and 2-12 ATS in its last 14 games night games.
I don’t think the Jets are good enough to win despite their advantages.
My final score prediction is Miami 17, NY Jets 13.
