Expert Picks NFL Thanksgiving Day

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
When: Thursday, Nov. 22 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Ford Field, Detroit, MI
TV: CBS
Odds: Chicago -3.5

Analysis: The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions resume their rivalry on Thanksgiving Day with the Bears headed to Detroit an over 3 point favorite. Overall, Chicago’s been the much better team, but Detroit’s tough to beat at home. They’re even tougher to beat at home on Thanksgiving Day.

The Lions beat Carolina 20-19 in Week 11 as a +4 dog. Head coach Matt Patricia came up with a fantastic defensive strategy to contain Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton.

Patricia should come up with a strategy to contain the Bears’ surprisingly good offense. Although there’s a chance Chicago easily handles Detroit, taking the points on the home team makes sense.

Pick: Detroit Lions

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys
When: Thursday, Nov. 22 at 4:30 pm ET
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
TV: FOX
Odds: Dallas -4.5

Analysis: The Dallas Cowboys are on a mini-roll after winning their second straight. The Cowboys upset Super Bowl defending champion Philadelphia in Week 10. In Week 11, they went into Atlanta and beat the Falcons straight up as a road dog.

The Cowboys offense has gotten its feet underneath it while the defense has played well this entire season. For Washington, they’re worried about quarterback Alex Smith whom they lost to a devastating leg injury in Week 11.

Dallas should win and cover.

Pick: Dallas Cowboys

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
When: Thursday, Nov. 22 at 8:20 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA
TV: NBC
Odds: New Orleans -9

Analysis: Atlanta versus New Orleans are usually close battles. It shouldn’t be a close battle on Thanksgiving Day. New Orleans has gone 9-0 SU and ATS after they lost their first game of the season.

The Saints are the top scoring team in the NFL. What’s really scary if you’re the rest of the teams in the league is how the Saints’ defense has begun to step it up. New Orleans appears headed to home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

They should blow out the rival Falcons by 3 or more touchdowns.

Pick: New Orleans Saints
