NFL Expert Picks Preseason Week 4

NFL Expert Picks Preseason Week 4

The final week of the 2016 NFL Preseason is here!  Can New Orleans beat Baltimore to end the preseason on a good note?  What will happen when California rivals San Francisco and San Diego throw down in SoCal?  Another SoCal team, Los Angeles, takes on Minnesota with their sights on finding a starter at QB. Will Minnesota make Keenum or Goff or both look bad?

NFL Expert Picks Preseason Week 4

Baltimore at New Orleans
When:  Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA

Analysis: New Orleans doesn’t have the desire to start any of their first, second, or possibly even third string players. The Saints are suddenly thin along the defensive line now that Sheldon Rankins, their top draft pick, got hurt. Expect the Saints to simply try and get through this game without getting anybody else hurt.

Baltimore has looked good during the NFL Preseason. The team isn’t going to allow their first or second team players to get hurt. What it means is that the Ravens might be as boring as the Saints in this battle. I think both John Harbaugh and Sean Payton use this game to shore up their play-calling and decide who stays and who goes.

I like Baltimore because Harbaugh appears to have better depth on defense.

Pick: Baltimore

Los Angeles at Minnesota
When:  Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN

Analysis: Minnesota is primed to defend its NFC North championship. What it means is that QB Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota’s Top 3 running backs, and both starting wide receivers are going to take a seat in this game. The Vikings have one of the better teams in the NFC this season. Why risk that by playing anyone who might see significant action during the regular season in the final NFL Preseason game?

Los Angeles on the other hand hasn’t declared who the starting quarterback will be. Will it be Case Keenum or rookie Jared Goff?  Because the Rams will play a strong QB, either Keenum or Goff, for most of this game, they’re the logical pick to get it done ATS and on the moneyline.

Pick: Los Angeles

San Francisco at San Diego
When:  Thursday, Sept. 1 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA

Analysis: The San Diego Chargers are having a heck of a time getting first round draft pick Joey Bosa to play for them. They’re trying to bully Bosa into signing. That probably isn’t going to work. Even with Bosa being an issue, the Chargers won’t be a terrible team in 2016. In fact, San Diego, if everyone is healthy, could be a surprise team in the loaded AFC West. All 4 teams in the AFC West have a shot at winning the division.

San Francisco on the other hand should be a bad team. The 49’ers just don’t have enough on either offense or defense in order to get it done. I like San Francisco to win this game, though, because Chip Kelly loves to show the entire world his offensive playbook before the first NFL game of the regular season.

Expect San Francisco to score over 30 points in this. Then, during the regular season the 49’ers will average, oh, around 17 or so a game.

Pick: San Francisco
