NFL Week 2 Expert Picks

I am not wasting any time. Are there any must bet on NFL week 2 expert picks? I think there are.

Can New Orleans bounce back from a tough loss to Oakland in Week 2 versus the New York Giants?  Is either Jacksonville or San Diego for real? We’ll find out when the Jags battle the Chargers in Week 2!  Is Oakland the team to watch in the AFC?  They take on Atlanta on Sunday.

New Orleans at New York Giants
When:  Sunday, Sept.18 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
TV: FOX
Odds:  New York Giants -5

Analysis: The New Orleans Saints let one slip by in Week 1. The Saints had a 14-point lead over the Oakland Raiders going into the second half. What happened? New Orleans did what it often has done in the past couple of years, they blew it. Oakland beat New Orleans 35 to 34.

But are the Saints so bad that the Giants should be 5 point favorites over them at MetLife Stadium?  I don’t think so. New York still doesn’t have much of a rushing attack. The offense looked to be in a still life photo at times against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.

More importantly, the Cowboys racked up 101 rushing yards against the Giants’ D. Dak Prescott threw for 227 yards. The Giants’ defense should be in a world of hurt against Drew Brees and the Saints. In a shootout, I’ll take the points.

Pick: New Orleans +5

Jacksonville at San Diego
When:  Sunday, Sept. 18 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
TV: CBS
Odds: San Diego -3

Analysis: Jacksonville was oh so close to upsetting Green Bay in their 23 to 27 Week 1 loss. What Jacksonville did do well was hold Aaron Rodgers to 199 yards passing. They stopped Green Bay’s offense in the second half yielding only 2 field goals after giving up 3 touchdowns in the first half.

That’s a good sign for the Jaguars. This is especially true since San Diego could be without WR Keenan Allen. Allen supposedly tore his ACL in the Chargers 27 to 33 Week 1 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

When it comes to this game, Jacksonville’s air attack should do plenty of damage to a San Diego defense that allowed Alex Smith to throw for 363 yards and 2 touchdowns. Blake Bortles should go for 400 yards against the San Diego defense.

Pick: Jacksonville +3

Atlanta at Oakland
When:  Sunday, Sept. 18 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA
TV: CBS
Odds: Oakland -4.5

Analysis: Raiders’ QB David Carr engineered a brilliant comeback against the Saints on Sept. 11. He ended up throwing for 319 yards. 137 of those yards went to Amari Cooper. Carr and Cooper could have the same success in Week 2 against Atlanta’s defense.

The Buccaneers exploited Atlanta’s D for 31 points. Jameis Winston threw 4 touchdown passes. He threw for 281 yards. If Winston can take apart Atlanta’s secondary, Carr should have no trouble doing it. I think Oakland ransacks the Falcons at home on Sunday. They win big in this game.

Pick: Oakland -4.5
