Expert Picks NFL Week 5

Expert Picks NFL Week 5

Four weeks fo NFL action are in the books and I have a trio of expert picks for NFL Week 5 action.

Expert Picks NFL Week 5

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals
When: Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, OH
TV: CBS
Odds: Cincinnati -5.5

Analysis: This game is a case of one team being exposed and the other team showing up. Miami is the exposed squad after the New England Patriots dumped on the Bengals 38-7. The Dolphins’ defense could do nothing to stop Tom Brady and the Pats’ offense while somehow the Fins managed to be the only team in the NFL so far this season that couldn’t beat up New England’s defense.

Cincinnati rallied for a 37-36 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta. The Bengals are now 3-1 straight up and in first place in the AFC North. Cincinnati should beat Miami by at least 6 points. There’s a good chance the Bengals dominate the Dolphins by 14 points or more in this matchup.

Pick: Bengals

New York Giants at Carolina Panthers
When: Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
TV: FOX
Odds: Carolina -6.5

Analysis: The New York Giants are just as bad this season as they were last season. NYG has gone 1-3 straight up in 4 games this season. The only team they beat were the Houston Texans on the road.

Week 4’s 33-18 loss to the New Orleans Saints might have been the Giants worse performance. Before holding the Giants to 18 points, the Saints defense had yielded 48 to Tampa Bay and 37 to Atlanta. Hand it to the Giants to be one of the few teams that can’t dominate the Saints’ D. The Giants shouldn’t score any more points this week versus Carolina’s defense than what they scored against the Saints’ defense.

Carolina’s well-rested. They’ll beat the Giants by over 10 points on Sunday.

Pick: Panthers

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles
When: Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
TV: FOX
Odds: Philadelphia -3

Analysis: Most sports bettors favored the Eagles at -3 to beat the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee’s defense held Philadelphia to only 23 points while the Titans’ offense rallied in the second half and in overtime for the 26-23 Tennessee win.

Philadelphia already has 2 losses on the season. Now, the Eagles must battle a desperate Minnesota team who sees their season slipping away after a tie versus Green Bay and losses to both Buffalo and the L.A. Rams.

Who takes it when the Vikings battle the Eagles on Oct. 7? I like Minnesota on the money line. I just feel they took a step forward against the Rams even though they lost the game.

Pick: Vikings
