Bet on Atlanta -2.5 because…
Atlanta’s defense has become a shutdown unit, but are they good enough to bet the NFL line at -2.5 versus the Eagles?
The Falcons faced the highest-scoring team in the NFL in their 26 to 13 win over the L.A. Rams. The Falcons held the Rams to 17 fewer points in Saturday’s win than the Rams usually score. LAR averages 30 points per game. That means ATL’s defense is en fuego.
Bet on Philadelphia +2.5 because…
The Eagles have been the best team in the NFL from pretty much the beginning of the season. But after losing starting QB Carson Wentz for the season, is Philly a smart bet with the NFL line at +2.5 when facing the Falcons?
Philly ranks third in the NFL in points scored per game. The Eagles average 28.6 points per game. Philly also has a decent defense. The Eagles’ D allows 79.2 total rushing yards per game. Philly allows 18.4 points per. That ranks fourth in the league.

DIY: This is the first time a top-seed has been an underdog in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs?
Philadelphia should come out fired up. I don’t believe it matters. There are a couple of reasons why the matchup sets up perfectly for the Atlanta Falcons to march back to the NFC Championship.
First, the Eagles will have to rely on back-up QB Nick Foles. Foles looked great in his first game replacing the injured Carson Wentz. He completed 24 of 38 for 237 yards. He threw 4 TD passes. But, after that game, Foles fell apart. His QB rating in the 19 to 10 win over Oakland in Week 16 was 59.4. He only recorded a 9.3 QB rating in the 0 to 6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.
The Falcons used their playoff experience to completely take down the Rams. Without Wentz, the Eagles will suffer a similar fate. I am betting on the Falcons with the NFL line at +2.5.
