Green Bay’s Almost Irresistible Odds To Win The Super Bowl

The Green Bay Packers should’ve been dead in the water last weekend, but rallied to come back against Atlanta in a 22-21 victory and now have +7000 odds to win the Super Bowl. Ironically, that’s the same price the Dallas Cowboys have. Whichever team wins this weekend will keep their playoff chances alive, but both of these teams need plenty of good luck to bust in to the big dance.

Right now, the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears are ahead of Green Bay in the standings but that could very well change. Jim Schwartz’s crew looks to be on shaky ground after getting blown out by Philadelphia despite the weather factor, while Chicago is still tossing and turning between a red-hot Josh McCown and an iffy (and unhealthy) Jay Cutler. For Green Bay’s odds to win the Super Bowl to have any real value, they’ll need their own starting quarterback back in the fold.

Green Bay Packers (6-6) vs. Dallas Cowboys (7-6)
The Green Bay Packers will take on the Dallas Cowboys in week 15.
Starts: 12/15/2013 4:20PM
AT&T Stadium, One Legends Way
Arlington, Texas

Aaron Rodgers has been out of action for nearly six weeks which is barely the time that it takes for a broken or fractured collarbone to heal. There’s still plenty of rehab to deal with and Rodgers will be seeing doctors this week to see if he’s clear to train fully. The only thing we know for sure is that Green Bay won’t be risking their franchise star this weekend.

Instead, the viewers will get another hefty dose of Matt Flynn in Week 15 NFL betting. Flynn finally played well in the second half of Sunday’s game and finished the game with 24-of-32 completions for 258 yards, a touchdown and one interception. It would be outright insanity to bet on Green Bay’s odds to win the Super Bowl because of Flynn.

Same goes for Dallas and Tony Romo.

The cold harsh winter that comes with December also happens to turn Tony Romo ice cold. It’s a sad, but true, fact that NFL gamblers have been making money off of for years. And it’s not like Dallas is entering this matchup with any real semblance of confidence. They’re a dismal 3-2 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and are coming off a short week after being embarrassed by Chicago. Betting on Dallas in December is an absolute no-no in NFL betting, which is why their odds to win the Super Bowl aren’t even worth considering.

Obviously, the Packers need some lucky breaks to crack in to the post season, but they can absolutely keep control of their own destiny here. Running back Eddie Lacy will love rushing against an under achieving Dallas defense that will be without Sean Lee again. The Cowboys just gave up 149 yards rushing to the Bears. Green Bay will pound the rock straight down their throats to take the pressure off of Flynn, and when they win, Aaron Rodgers will be very tempted to test the waters and return from his injury like the closer we know him to be. Green Bay’s 70-to-1 odds to win the Super Bowl are suddenly very intriguing, aren’t they?
