Houston Texans Vs Tennessee Titans Week 13 Analysis

While the Houston Texans are still mathematically alive to reach the playoffs, they’ll really just be trying to play spoiler when they host the Tennessee Titans in their Week 13 divisional matchup this Sunday.

The Titans are co-leaders with Jacksonville in the AFC South and the Texans would almost assuredly like nothing better than to have a helping hand in keeping one of their division rivals out of the playoffs. Now, let’s find out which one of these teams is offering the best value against their Week 13 NFL betting odds.

Houston has lost four of their last five games and comes into this divisional matchup off a 23-16 road loss at Baltimore last weekend, although they did put up a good effort to cover the chalk as a 7.5-point underdog. Unfortunately, Houston just doesn’t look nearly as good right now as they did with dangerous rookie signal-caller Deshaun Watson under center earlier this season. Case in point, veteran quarterback Tom Savage threw two interceptions and lost one fumble against the Ravens this past weekend.

Tennessee has won five of its last six games and got back in the win column in Week 12 by beating Indianapolis 20-16 to narrowly cover the spread as a 3-point road favorite despite the fact that Marcus Mariota tossed two interceptions and only touchdown pass against the division rival Colts. Veteran running back DeMarco Murray added a rushing score and the Titans’ defense were a sack machine to get the win.

While I said the Texans would like to play spoiler in this contest by getting the upset win and they really do want to upend their AFC South division rivals, I’d personally be playing to lose from here on out if I were Houston, just so I could have a better shot at landing a higher draft pick to give Watson some help come next season.

No matter what Houston’s intentions are in this contest, the Tennessee Titans are the pick to win and cover the spread simply because they’re the better team in all three phases right now and have a lot to play for as they seek to claim the AFC South division title and accompanying playoff berth in the AFC.

The Texans are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against their AFC South division rivals while Tennessee has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record. One team has everything to play and the big edge at quarterback while playing at home and the other doesn’t have much to play for except pride! Go with the 60 percent of public bettors that like Marcus Mariota and the Titans in this one!

Pick: Tennessee -6.5
