Bet The Arizona Cardinals +3 Because…
Arizona got its bad playoff game out of the way. Facing a determined Green Bay team led by a resurgent Aaron Rodgers, the Cardinals needed overtime on Jan. 16 in order to beat the Packers 26 to 20. Although Cardinals QB Carson Palmer threw for 349 yards and 3 touchdowns, he also threw 2 interceptions. Palmer, hopefully for Arizona fans, got the butterflies out of his stomach in the game against the Packers. He should be more effective versus Carolina in the NFC Championship Game. The Cardinals defense played well to keep Green Bay to 20 points in the game.
Bet The Carolina Panthers -3 Because…
Carolina is a team on a mission. The Panthers ran out to a 31 to 0 lead versus Seattle in their 31 to 24 NFC Divisional Playoff win on Jan. 17. The Panthers were unbeatable in the first half. The defense played with abandon, even forcing Seattle QB Russell Wilson into a Pick 6, while the offense was unstoppable. In the second half, the game changed with the Seahawks scoring 24 unanswered. But, Carolina stood tall towards the end of the game to secure a win. The Panthers seem destined to make it all the way to Super Bowl 50.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Carolina may not need destiny on their side in order to beat Arizona on January 24. The Panthers did lose focus in the second half against Seattle, but football handicappers should remember that going into the NFL Playoffs, Seattle was the team that many analysts picked to go to go to the Super Bowl from the NFC. The Seahawks ended the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
Carolina has some flaws, but those flaws aren’t as apparent as Arizona’s. The Cardinals are built somewhat like the New England Patriots in the sense that they don’t rush the ball very well and, in their recent games at least, they don’t particularly stop one phase of the offense. The Patriots defense has trouble stopping the pass. Arizona’s defense has trouble stopping the run.
The Cardinals allowed Green Bay to rush for 135 yards from 22 carries. The per rush average comes out to over 6 yards per carry. Carolina on average rushes for 142.6 yards per game. The Panthers rushed for 144 yards against Seattle in their win on Jan. 17. Carolina should be able to rush against the Cardinals’ defense.
Arizona’s best chance at winning will be to turn this game into a shootout. The Cardinals need to win the Patriots way with a lot of high-flying passes. Unfortunately, Carson Palmer isn’t Tom Brady. I expect Carolina to win this game by at least 10 points.
My final score prediction is Carolina 34, Arizona 24.
