Bet The Green Bay Packers +7.5 Because…
QB Aaron Rodgers found his groove. Up until the 35 to 18 win over Washington in the Wild Card Round, Rodgers hadn’t been playing like a 2 time NFL MVP. He hadn’t recorded a triple digit QB rating since Week 4 of the regular season. Green Bay had lost its last 2 games going into the playoffs. Rodgers turned it around against Washington. He threw for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. He didn’t toss an interception and he managed the game brilliantly calling the perfect audibles against a keyed up Washington defense.
Bet The Arizona Cardinals -7.5 Because…
Arizona has the best offense in the NFL. The Cardinals average a college football like 408.3 yards per game. Arizona’s offense is ranked first in total yardage, second in passing yardage per game at 288.5, and eighth in rushing yardage per game at 119.8. If you commit to stopping Arizona’s rushing attack, QB Carson Palmer will kill you with deep throws to the top receiving corps in the NFL. If you commit to stopping Palmer, the Desert Birds will bust you up with long runs.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Arizona dominated Green Bay 38 to 8 in Week 16. Green Bay’s defense had no answer for Arizona’s offense. But in Week 17, with a shot at the home field advantage, Arizona’s offense imploded against Seattle. Palmer and Arizona’s offense looked horrible. What’s worse is that Arizona’s defense allowed Seattle QB Russell Wilson to throw for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns. Seattle rushed for 145 yards on 36 carries.
The question has to be whether or not Palmer can handle the pressure. He’s never played in a game as big as the one that he’s playing in on this Saturday. Football handicappers know that Aaron Rodgers can handle the pressure but can Carson Palmer? It’s a legitimate question. Green Bay didn’t look great going into last season’s playoffs. All Green Bay did in the playoffs was beat Dallas and then almost pull off the upset against Seattle on the road.
I expect the team with momentum and experience to step it up on Saturday. I like Green Bay to pull off the upset.
My final score prediction is Green Bay 27, Arizona 24.
