Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks will take the first step toward reaching Super Bowl 51 when they host Ryan Tannehill and the new-look Miami Dolphins in a Week 1 matchup that looks a bit lop-sided on paper.

Bet The Miami Dolphins at +10.5 Because…
The Dolphins (6-10 SU, 5-11 ATS) went 2-2 in the preseason and will have a new look in 2016 under first-year head coach Adam Gase. The NFL oddsmakers don’t have much fait in the Dolphins by giving them 10.5-points on the week 1 NFL betting line.
The bad news is that Gase still has mediocre quarterback Ryan Tannehill under center. While Tannehill does have talent at the skill positions in the forms of wide receivers Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and veteran running back Arian Foster, the Fins will go only as far as Tannehill takes them. Gase’s first order of business is improving a Miami offense that ranked a pitiful 27th n scoring last season (19.4 ppg).
Defensively, Miami finished last season ranked 26th in total yards allowed and 19th in points allowed (24.3 ppg). Miami desperately needs an improved Ndamukong Suh, but has a chance to be elite along the defensive line with veterans Cameron Wake, and Mario Williams playing alongside Suh.
Bet The Seattle Seahawks at -10.5 Because…
Seattle (11-7 SU, 8-9-1 ATS) looked solid in winning three of their four preseason games and wants to reach Super Bowl 51 in the worst way possible.
While the Seahawks saw running back Marshawn Lynch retire following last season, there is still plenty of talent on board for head coach Pete Carroll, starting with quarterback Russell Wilson. But is that enough to cover the 10.5-point week 1 betting line.
Seattle ranked a stellar fourth in scoring last season (26.4 ppg) and apparently has a Lynch-like clone in young running back Thomas Rawls after he averaged 5.6 yards on 147 carries in 2015.
The Seahawks are expecting a much better season out of former Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham and made some nice additions via the NFL draft by grabbing running backs C.J. Prosisse and Alex Collins.
Defensively, the Seattle Seahawks finished last season ranked second in total yards allowed and first in points allowed (17.3 ppg). Stars, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and K.J. Wright are all back and that means trouble for Seattle’s opponents in 2016.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
I’m not real fond of the high point spread surrounding this affair, but I’m even less fond of Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill and I can see Seattle’s defense pressuring him into at least two costly turnovers en route to the SU win and narrow ATS cover.
The Dolphins are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall while Seattle has gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in the month of September, 6-3 ATS in their last nine games overall and 17-5 SU in their last 22 home games.
Seattle wins and narrowly covers the NFL week 1 betting line as 10.5-point favorites!
