Rex Ryan has a love/hate relationship with Bill Belichick and the Patriots. He loves to play against them, but hates their very existence. He relishes the spotlight. He loves the game prep. He loves the media attention. Best of all he loves beating the Patriots. He gets his shot this week.
If the Bills can replicate their week 1 success, the Patriots will be in trouble. Ryan’s debut in Buffalo ended with a relatively one-sided win over Andrew Luck and the Colts. The Bills covered the 2.5-point spread as home underdogs. Buffalo scored the first 24 points in the meeting before the Colts put up any points. By then the game was over.

Ryan knows the Patriots won’t be as easy to stop. New England opened the season under the cloud of Deflategate. They proceeded to beat the Steelers 28-21. That game was 10 days ago.
"We’re not going to ask one guy to cover him [Gronk]," Ryan told in press conference . "Yeah, he’d have to look like King Kong."
"Obviously you don’t just put one guy on this guy. That’s been proven," he added in a conference call with reporters covering the Patriots. "I will say this, it’s better to put one guy on him than nobody on him. We’ll try to have somebody on him, at least."
The Patriots are a pass first, second and third team. This week they will have to deal with the Bills stubborn, never ending pass rush. Even with the return of rusher Legarrette Blount, the Patriots win or lose with Tom Brady passing the ball to Rob Gronkowski.
Brady’s passer rating drops to 88.9 against against Rex Ryan powered defenses. Against every other NFL team in his long, illustrious career, his passer rating is a shiny 96.1.
"I think our record against him [Rex Ryan] has been OK," Belichick told the USA Today . "I’ll take it."
For the record, Rex Ryan is 4-9 against the Patriots as a New York Jets head coach, including a dreary 1-7 mark since 2011.
