Over/Under Picks NFL Week 9

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
When: Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
TV: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Game Total: 47

Analysis: On paper, this one should go under because both teams have very good defenses. But, Baltimore and Pittsburgh have battled in some seriously crazy over games in the past. This could be one of those Steelers versus Ravens over games.

Pittsburgh averages 29 points per. Baltimore’s got a good defense, but Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger knows how to break down the Ravens. Baltimore’s played the same strategy on defense for almost a decade.

Roethlisberger and the Steelers will put up points. Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco and the Ravens will have no choice but to try and answer. This game could get into the 50’s with at least one team hitting the 30-point mark and the other scoring around 24.

Pick: Over

New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
When: Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
TV: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Game Total: 45

Analysis: New York Jets travel to Miami in a game between two teams that don’t play much defense. Neither squad has much of an offense, either, but in a game where neither team can do anything well, offenses get the edge.

The reason is that defenses must react to offenses. Don’t be surprised if the Jets and Dolphins both put up 30 in this matchup. Jets especially should have success rushing the football against a Fins’ front seven that allows 143 rushing yards per.

Pick: Over

Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots
When: Sunday, Nov. 4 at 8:20 pm ET
Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA
TV: NBC
Stream: NBC Sports Live
Game Total: 56½

Analysis: If we really thought hard, we could come up with a reason why the Packers and Patriots wouldn’t play to an over 60 total. We could come up with a scenario where New England rushes the ball to keep it away from Aaron Rodgers and where Green Bay tries to rush the ball to keep it away from Tom Brady.

Few teams can change their offensive strategy whenever they feel like it. Green Bay and New England aren’t two of those teams. No matter the total, this game goes over because both Rodgers and Brady throw for 3 TDs each.

Pick: Over 56½
