Why Bet the Green Bay Packers Odds at +3

The Packers dominated the Seattle Seahawks in their 17-9 Week 1 win while easily covering the spread as a 3-point home favorite. Aaron Rodgers completed 28 of 42 passes for 311 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the win while running back Ty Montgomery rushed 19 times for 54 yards and one score. Veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb led Green Bay with 9 catches for 85 yards, while Jordy Nelson had seven catches for 79 yards and caught Rodgers’ only touchdown toss. Defensively, Mike Daniels and Nick Perry combined for three sacks and the Packers held Seattle to a minuscule 90 rushing yards in the win.

Why Bet the Atlanta Falcons Odds at -3

The Falcons got by Chicago 23-17 in Week 1, but it took a sack from Brooks Reed on fourth-and-goal sack to finish off the rebuilding Bears. Falcons coach Dan Quinn was pleased with his team’s effort despite largely struggling throughout.

"I wasn’t disappointed that we had to go all the way to the end," he said. "Those are kind of the finishes that as a coach you hope you can put your team into some of those spots and have some resiliency there at the end. It took all day, for sure."

Matt Ryan completed 21 of 30 passes for 321 yards and one touchdown in the win while running back Devonta Freeman rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on a dozen carries.

"I wasn’t panicking," Ryan said. "It’s all about trying to get better week to week. That’s the focus. The good teams that I’ve been on are the teams that continue to get better throughout the year. I think the experience of that first game is going to serve us well."

Wide receiver Austin Hooper had two catches for 128 yards and a touchdown in the while Julio Jones had four catches for 66 yards. Defensively, the Falcons allowed Chicago quarterback Mike Glennon to throw for 213 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Packers Vs Falcons Expert Analysis and Prediction

Green Bay may have gotten spanked in last season’s NFC title tilt 44-21, but this isn’t last season and the way both of these teams looked in Week 1 leads me to believe that Green bay is the easy pick to not only cover the spread in Week 2 but do so by winning outright.

While Atlanta has gone 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against the NFC and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a win, Green Bay is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win. More importantly, the road team in this rivalry is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

I was really impressed with the Packers in Week 1 and not so much by the Falcons. I’m going with Aaron Rodgers and company to cover the spread as field goal road dogs!

Pick: Green Bay +3
