Should You Bet The Green Bay Packers In Aaron Rodgers First Game in 8 Weeks?
Green Bay is on the verge of falling out of playoff contention. But lady luck is on their side as the Packers will regain the services of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers is cleared to return from a seven-game absence caused by a broken right collarbone. Green Bay went 3-5 with backup Brett Hundley starting.
"In his mind, he’s ready to go," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said of Rodgers. "It’s a process."
Rodgers threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns two years ago at Carolina, though the Panthers won 37-29.
The question remains. Can the Packers, who have given up 43 sacks, protect Rodgers from one of the most terrifying front seven in the league?
Should You Bet On The 9-4 Carolina Panthers
The Panthers insist they are not caught off guard by the likely return of Rodgers.
“He has probably been throwing for four or five weeks,” Carolina coach Ron Rivera said.
Rivera said the Panthers cannot concentrate entirely on Rodgers, though the coach does seem to appreciate some of the attention that might be at least temporarily diverted from his team.
“Our focus will be on the Packers and what they do,” Rivera said.
Packers Vs Panthers Expert Pick
67 percent of public bettors are going with Carolina in this contest and I believe it’s easily the right call, seeing as how Green Bay’s defense is mostly pitiful and just won’t be able to stop Cam Newton, Stewart and both, Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess.
The Packers may be 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and a stellar 25-10 ATS in their last 35 games in the month of December, but Carolina has gone 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 15 and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the home team in this NFC rivalry has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. Simply put, Carolina wins and covers a spread that should actually be a few points higher!
The Panthers have won five of their last six games.
