Why Bet The Pittsburgh Steelers to Beat the Chiefs

The Steelers (12-5 SU, 10-6-1 ATS) are on fire, having won eight straight games and that alone makes them an attractive pick against the Chiefs in their divisional round matchup.

Pittsburgh rolled all over the overmatched Miami Dolphins in their 30-12 wild card win on Sunday to easily cash in as a 10-pint home favorite as Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell all played together in a playoff game for the first time.

Bell gashed Miami by rushing 29 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns while Brown torched the Fins for 124 yards and two scores on five catches. Roethlisberger completed a modest 13 of 18 passes for 197 yards with two TD passes and two interceptions. The Steelers are ranked 11th in scoring (24.9 ppg) and 10th in points allowed (20.4 ppg).

Why Bet The Kansas City Chiefs to Beat the Steelers

Kansas City won their final two regular season contests and five of their last six games overall. The best reason to bet on the Kansas City Chiefs (12-4 SU, 9-7 ATS) in this divisional round showdown is their star-studded defense.

Linebackers Tamba Hali, Justin Houston and Dee Ford and safety Eric Berry are all Pro Bowl-caliber stars while superstar cornerback Marcus Peters may be the best player at his position in the league. The Chiefs finished the regular season ranked an impressive seventh in points allowed (19.4 ppg) and have the kind of elite talent that can shut down even the most explosive offenses.

Unfortunately, getting a first-round bye has almost been a curse for the Chiefs.  Since the current playoff format was implemented in 1990, Kansas City has earned a first-round bye three times (1995, 1997, and 2003) but are 0-3 in those contests. Not only that, but the Chiefs were man-handled in their humbling 43-14 Week 4 road loss to the Steelers.

Kansas City finished the regular season ranked a modest 13th in scoring (24.3 ppg), but there’s good news in the act that Andy Reid coached teams have gone 16-2 all-time in games played after a bye week.

Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction

I’ve touted the Chiefs as a legitimate Super Bowl contender all season long, but right now, I’m going to urge you to go with the 54 percent of public bettors that likes Pittsburgh to cover the spread at the very least.

I know the Steelers are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games against Kansas City and that the home team in this AFC rivalry has gone 7-1 ATS in their last eight meetings, but Pittsburgh is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four divisional playoff games, a robust 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against their AFC counterparts.

With the Chiefs going 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight playoff games and 0-4 ATS in their last four home playoff games, I’m thinking the Steelers not only cover the spread, but do so by winning outright!

My final score prediction is Pittsburgh 21 Kansas City 20
