The Washington Redskins may have won the NFC East and made their first playoff appearance in ages last season, but they’re still a NFL week 1 betting line home underdog against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that many expect to contend for a Super bowl berth in 2016.

Now, let’s find out if Kirk Cousins and the Redskins can win and cash in as a slight home dog against Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers on Monday night at FedEx Field.

Bet The Washington Redskins Line at +3 Because…
Redskins went 3-1 in the preseason and will enter the 2016 regular season with some high hopes after adding Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman and deep-threat wide receiver Josh Doctson this offseason.
Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins will still be out to prove he’s worth big money after signing a one-year deal in the offseason after passing for over 4,100 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2015.
Cousins has plenty of talent at the skill positions and the Skins should be solid on offense at the very least this coming season, putting the onus squarely on a defense that ranked
29th in total yards allowed and 18th in points allowed a year ago
Bet The Pittsburgh Steelers Line at -3 Because…
Pittsburgh went 1-3 in the preseason, but won the most important game by beating New Orleans 27-14 in Week 3 while accomplishing their main goal of escaping the scrimmage season unscathed.
The bad news is that Pittsburgh will be hampered by the three-game suspension of running back Le’Veon Bell and season-long suspension of wide receiver Martavis Bryant.
Still the Steelers still have future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, wide receiver Antonio Brown and veteran running back DeAngelo Williams forming what should be one of the most formidable trios in the league.
The Steelers do need to address a defense that ranked a dismal 22nd in total yards allowed, but respectable 11th in points allowed.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
The NFL week 1 betting line of a field-goal in favor of the black and gold is a spread begging to be hit. I’m going to get right to the point by saying that I fully expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to march into the nation’s capitol and lay a solid smackdown on a Redskins team that I believe overachieved last season to win completely mediocre NFC East.
The Steelers have gone 7-3-2 ATS in their last dozen road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of September. Conversely, while the Redskins have gone 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall, Washington is also just 1-4 ATS in their last five Monday Night Football games.
For me, Pittsburgh has the big edge at quarterback and head coach where I don’t think Jay Gruden can carry Mike Tomlin’s clipboard.
Pittsburgh wins outright while covering the NFL week 1 betting line.
