Straight-Up Upset Alerts NFL Preseason Week 1

If you aren’t happy at any of the NFL’s Week 1 preseason betting spreads, you may want to look into the following NFL preseason Week 1 straight up moneyline upset alerts.

NFL Preseason Week 1 Straight-Up Upset Alerts

New York Jets vs. New York Giants +115

On paper, the Jets should have one of the top defenses in the NFL. They should also score way more points this season than they did last season. That’s what happens when you sign a running back like Le’Veon Bell. On Thursday, though, they won’t play Bell. They’re not going to play a lot of players that could help them beat the Giants.

The Giants are a mess in so many ways. However, they’re going to play their first-round pick on August 8, quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones could have some success against the Jets’ second-string defense.

Pick: New York Giants

New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions +110

Bill Belichick never shows his hand in preseason games. Tom Brady might skip the entire preseason while Belichick decides who the backup will be.

Belichick faces his former student, Matt Patricia, who coaches the Lions. Detroit will be much improved in 2019. Not only that, but Patricia wants to establish a Patriot winning attitude. That means, the Lions play to win on August 8.

Pick: Detroit Lions

Washington Redskins +100 vs. Cleveland Browns

There’s a lot of buzz around the Cleveland Browns. Although much of it is warranted, it’s best if we take a wait and see approach. There’s also buzz around Washington rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Haskins is listed first on the depth chart. That doesn’t mean Jay Gruden won’t play him on August 8. Even if Haskins only plays one or two series, Gruden will turn to Case Keenum, or Colt McCoy, or Josh Woodrum. Woodrum played great in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football. He should have some success against the Browns’ second-string defense.

Pick: Washington Redskins

Tennessee Titans +160 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The odds don’t make sense here. The Titans might not play Marcus Mariota, but they are likely to play Ryan Tannehill. If they don’t play Tannehill or Mariota, they will play Logan Woodside. Woodside is another Alliance of American Football player that had success while the league existed.

Philadelphia definitely won’t play Carson Wentz or Jordan Howard. The Eagles went 0-3 SU in their first 3 preseason games last year. They won’t start the 2019 NFL Preseason with a win.

Pick: Tennessee Titans

Jacksonville Jaguars +170 vs. Baltimore Ravens

In 2018, Jacksonville won 3-of-4 preseason games. The bodes well for their chances heading into their first 2019 NFL Preseason game.

The Ravens figure to give Robert Griffin III and Trace McSorley playing time while the Jags will keep Nick Foles on the bench. That means the Jaguars will have the player to watch on both sides of the ball in this. Kentucky rookie Josh Allen sacked the quarterback 31.5 times in 30 games. He sacked the quarterback 17 times in 13 games his senior season.

Jacksonville figures to start looking for ways to free up Allen. He could record at least two sacks against Baltimore’s second-string offensive line on August 2. That might lead to a Jags’ straight up win.

Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars
