NFL Preseason Week 2 Parlay PicksJosh Bailey
Halfway through August and the second week of NFL preseason football action is about to kick-off. I have a trio of picks you can use for a two or three team parlay play. Happy hunting!
My 2-team parlay starts on Thursday when Baltimore heads to Miami. Will the Dolphins put a beat down on the Ravens? I then look to a Saturday game where the New York Jets battle the Detroit Lions. Can the Jets perform the upset? The final game I like has Pittsburgh at home facing the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, August 20. Will Pittsburgh beat Atlanta at home?
2-Team Parlay Pick Preseason Week 2
- Baltimore +3
- NY Jets +3
Baltimore at Miami
When: Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
Odds: Miami -3
Analysis: Baltimore beat Washington 23 to 3 in NFL Preseason Week 1. I don’t see any reason to get off the Ravens’ preseason bandwagon. Baltimore’s D looked great in the win. The Ravens also rushed the football much better than I had seen them rush the football in a long time.
Baltimore racked up 132 yards off 39 carries. The Ravens’ time of possession was 35:25 to Washington’s 24:35.
Miami beat Atlanta 23 to 20 in Week 1. The Dolphins didn’t play Jay Cutler at all. They probably won’t play him in this game either. They can’t take the chance of getting Cutler hurt.
That’s why Baltimore’s the play against the spread.
NY Jets at Detroit
When: Saturday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Odds: Detroit -3
Analysis: Detroit looked so good in their win over the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend, that it’s difficult to see the Lions not being favored by less than 4 points in this game. Unless anyone’s forgotten, this is the NFL Preseason, not the NFL Regular Season.
Detroit may not show everything in their arsenal on offense while the Jets are such a mess that they must play everyone available just to figure out who starts on offense. That gives NYJ a slight edge in this.
I’m going with J-E-T-S.
Pick: New York Jets
3-Team Parlay Pick Preseason Week 2
- Baltimore +3
- NY Jets +3
- Pittsburgh -1.5
Atlanta at Pittsburgh
When: Sunday, Aug. 20 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV: NFL Net
Odds: Pittsburgh -1.5
Analysis: Pittsburgh beat the New York Giants 20 to 12 in their first preseason game with no one of note taking the field. No, seriously. The Steelers gave a lot of run to former Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs.
Dobbs threw 2 picks. He didn’t look that comfortable.
No worries. Pitt’s almost assuredly going to give the kid a chance to show his stuff this Sunday against Atlanta. If Dobbs settles down, he might be decent.
If Pitt doesn’t play Dobbs for most of the game, the best back-up in the NFL, Landry Jones, will get snaps. Jones heads into his fifth season in the NFL. Every time he’s filled in for Big Ben Roethlisberger, he’s played well.
If Jones gets snaps, the Steelers could dominate Atlanta on Sunday.
