Jared Goff and the Rams have won five of their last six and showed some real fight to get past a top-tier New Orleans Saints team in their 26-20 home win this past weekend following their humbling 24-7 Week 11 road loss at Minnesota.
The Rams are averaging a stellar 29.9 points per game to rank second in scoring in young head coach Sean McVay’s first season. L.A. is also limiting the opposition to just 187.7 points per game under legendary defensive coordinator Wade Philip after the Denver Broncos foolishly failed to resign the arguably the greatest defensive coordinator in league history.
Arizona showed a lot of heart to beat Jacksonville 27-24 this past weekend and snap a two-game skid on Sunday. Plus, the Cardinals will have plenty of motivation in this contest after getting slapped around by the Rams in their 33-0 road Week 7 loss against their blossoming NFC West rivals. However, I’m going to advise you to go with the 68 percent of public bettors that like the Rams to get the win and ATS cover for a couple of reasons.
First, if you don’t know by now, Cardinals backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert is pretty damned awful. In three years with Jacksonville and another three with San Francisco, plus two games with Arizona this season, Gabbert the former 10th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, has thrown 43 career TD passes and 40 career interceptions. Not only that, but the Rams are simply the better team in all three phases of the game now and have more weapons to get the job done with. The road team in this rivalry is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the rams are just better than Arizona – period!
Pick: Los Angeles Rams -7
