NFL Week 1 NFC South Free Pick: Saints Vs FalconsJosh Bailey
The Atlanta Falcons (4-12 SU,7-9 ATS) will look to bounce back from their horrific 2013 season and the New Orleans Saints (12-6 SU,10-7-1 ATS) take the first step in what they hope will be a Super Bowl 49 appearance when they square off in a NFC South Week 1 thriller tat gets underway on Sunday, live from the Georgia Dome at 1:00 PM ET.
MY NFL Week 1 NFC South Free Pick – New Orleans Vs. Atlanta
The Atlanta Falcons will look to put a forgettable 2013 season behind them as they open at home against the New Orleans Saints.
The Atlanta Falcons will open their season at home against their NFC South rival, the New Orleans Saints. They are determined to put last season behind them since they finished with a disappointing 4-12 record.
Atlanta went 2-2 SU and ATS in the preseason while New Orleans recorded a solid 3-1 SU and ATS mark in their four scrimmage contests.

Analysis: New Orleans won both of last season’s matchups so Atlanta will undoubtedly want to get some retribution in this matchup, especially after losing by just four at home.
Still, I can’t go against my better judgment, which is why I’m picking the Saints to win this matchup and get the narrow ATS win as well.
Atlanta ‘s 24-17 Week 3 loss to Tennessee was a bit eye-opening, seeing as how the Falcons played their starters and really wanted to win the affair. Even with Drew Brees not at 100 percent, New Orleans looked very good in the preseason and I believe they’ll get the outright win and narrow ATS cover even though I’ll admit that most of the ATS trends for this NFC South showdown points to an Atlanta ATS cover.

Atlanta is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games while New Orleans has gone just 2-6 ATS in its last eight road games.
However, I’m banking on the fact that the Falcons are also just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in September while the Saints have gone a polar opposite 4-1 ATS in their L/5 September affairs.
The home team in this longtime rivalry has gone 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings while the underdog has been even more consistent in going 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. Still, the Saints are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings against the Falcons and I like them to get the early season SU and ATS win in this one.
