Analysis: A whopping 61 percent of the betting public likes the Green Bay Packers to take down the New Orleans Saints and cover the NFL preseason betting line in this game, but I don’t and here’s why.

First and foremost, the Saints are a winless 0-3 and probably want to get the feel-good victory a bit more than the Packers will, particularly after losing two ‘heartbreakers’ in Weeks 2 and 3.

Despite the fact that thy put up more total yards than the Texans, New Orleans was on the wrong end of a 27-13 loss to Houston in Week 3 as they committed two costly turnovers. Veteran backup quarterback Luke McCown had a solid performance in defeat by completing 8 of 14 passes for 117 yards. Unfortunately, the Saints came away empty handed in their only trip inside the red zone.

In the case of the Packers, they’ve dropped two straight including their humbling 39-26 home loss to Philadelphia in Week 3. The Packers started rookie signal-caller Brett Hundley and the former UCLA star didn’t disappoint as he completed 22 of 31 passes with two touchdowns and one interception while fourth-stringer Matt Blanchard completed 8 of 11 passes for 87 yards with one TD pass and one interception.

The bad news is that the Packers got torched for the second straight game as they allowed Philly’s Sam Bradford to go a perfect 10-for-10 with three TD passes.

For this contest, veteran backup Scott Tolzien will be back in the saddle to open this contest after sitting out last week as part of the league’s concussion protocol.

“It’s frustrating just because it’s very thorough. That’s what I found out,” Tolzien said to reporters. “The protocol now is pretty thorough. So it’s a frustrating process, but you understand it. The competitor in you wants to play, but it’s a thorough process that you’ve got to respect.”

Right now, I think the best NFL betting to win big is to bet the OVER 40 total points. The Saints and Packers are both playing absolutely mediocre defense coming into this contest and I suspect both teams’ backup players will give up more than their fair share of points.

The Favorite in this series is 5-1 ATS in their last six meetings while New Orleans is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings and an identical 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Additionally, the Over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Green Bay and 8-0 in the last eight meetings between these NFC rivals.

Bet the OVER and the Saints in this game. In fact, I would recommend a parlay.
